Ok a very common problem with 5.3a is it seems the start up ppf goes into fightersquadron directory,and not where it should which is fighter squadron/media directory.This has occured many times but at least is a simple fix thought I would try to help some out with this issue.

I found it was the instructions inside the 5.3a update. It says to install to FS but not into Media. The paths inside the zip only have the aircraft folders.
Still, no big deal as it can be quickly installed to media in a couple of minutes.

I installed the update and I've been seeing some strangeness.. some of the training missions (typhoon, spit IX) crashing to desktop etc.. can anyone confirm this problem or is it just my setup?

No problems with the spit ix or typh so far tail.

Make sure you have the right startup.ppf file (I know fairly obvious).

Actually Tail, I crashed to black screen a couple times trying a B-17G training "landing" mission, and that was after installing 5.3 on night, and then the patch the next.

the patch had the old 5.3 readme. i forgot to update it since the patch was to be installed in the Media folder and not in just the FS folder.

sorry for the problem.

5.3b will be fixed.
