I finally took time to update the Manifest for OPP, aka "Manifest for a better flightsim".

Just added a few points I add in mind and indicated which points were already in use or could be completed soon.

I would like MH to read it a little and return some comments, especially on memory handlings. Afterall, he's "Number One" on this forum.

BTW, The Gazette has been updated with the announce of PP5.3's release, and I remind you I'm still loking for assistants to help revive the site.

Cheers.

Here are my comments on the new stuff.

11. This is already part of the options. You can turn tracer and gun smoke on or off as you desire.

12. We do load unique objects once and then repeat it around the world. You'll notice that even in FS, most of the hangars and buildings are the same.

13. Textures are also loaded once and then re-used. We used large unique terrain tiles because they are higher-resolution and gave our world a better look. The tradeoff was that our world had to be smaller. If someone were to use repeating textures or lower resolution textures, they could easily make a larger world.

14. True. An option to enabled nation-specific units for the instruments and hud would be nice.

15. That's a good idea.

Wouldn't it be possible to have this option in 2 separate fields?
I would keep the gun smoke...

aren't the debris include in the option too?
so, I need 3 separate fields.

I know what you are thinking...

BTW: I didn't notice any changes when activating the option. Will check again.

Thanks for the answers.

STef-

As far as the textures reloading everytime...just in case you didn't know- you have to make sure that "Conserve Hard Drive Space" isn't checked in the Options menu...if it is then you do reload everytime. When unchecked, it will keep most of them in memory and getting into the game will be quicker. You do have to empty your texture cache every so often though or you start to slow down.

Thanks Jeeves. I was aware of that point. And now that I have installed a 13.5 Mb (7.200 t/min) HD, I don't have problems.

I ignored it needed to be cleaned up from time to time though.

My points are more concerned about offering larger spaces to play, like EAW for example.
I guess Parsoft focused on small areas for gameplay. So, maybe we should 2 kinds of terrains: offline and online ones.
Offline terrains could be larger, not to say very very large! ;p
Online terrains would remain about the actual size. It's very rare you have to cross the complete area to fight opponents online.

Thanks anyway.
