Cpt Farrel Pilot	posted 02-19- 05:55 PM With all those cool moving canopies around, it would be really great to have some wind sounds play while the canopy is open in flight, the most interesting question would be: Is it possible to have the sounds pitch changed with the speed of the plane (pretty much like the engine sounds) so that at high speeds the sounds would be really high pitched and unbearable (preventing people to take advantage of the better view in combat)? Seeing what all You OpenPlane wizards can do, this wouldn't be all that impossible right? Cheers! / Cpt Farrel IP: Logged

Yardstick Pilot	posted 02-21- 07:46 AM Since all the PP5.3 planes that currently have moving canopies are German, simply opening them to bail in the interests of realism wouldn't actually be realistic. The 109, 190 and 262 all had canopy jettison mechanisms for quick release of the canopy prior to bail out. You occasionally see the Fw190 canopy flying off in US gun camera footage. ------------------ Yardstick painted this IP: Logged
MrBlob Pilot	posted 02-21- 02:15 PM Very good point. I was waiting for this point. You are definately true in your piont. Many pilots were indeep killed sadly due to not being able to get the cockpit open quick enough. I've read a story of how a Me262 pilot had to bail out at 22000ft!!! ouch! He survived and survived the war. Anyway, surely it would be easier to model a conapy that simply "blew off" and then only allowed the pilot to bail? Still the spitfires, and bombers would all need opening doors to bail. Didn't the P51 eventually have a qick release canopy? Still a delay time would be good as no pilot can bail in 1 second flat! (unless he is blown out....but then they would be dead so.......) Adding a quick release canopy would be easy surely? Just do it so that when you press Alt J, the canopy acs like a bomb being released and then out comes the pilot? ------------------ ~MrBlob~ IP: Logged
