Wow!
I just checked out Razor747's website http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Village/2073/flightline.htm
And dropped into his FPS Survey Page.

Excellent SDoE measuring device. As we all know, SDoE can challenge yer Box in the FPS Catagory.

After reading his site carefully, hands down
3DFX in Glide yeilds the best performance.

So,I strolled over to http://www.3dfx.com
and checked out the upcoming Voodoo's
(spring 2000)

At the heart of both the Voodoo4 and Voodoo5 family of products is 3dfx’s newest chip, the VSA-100 Engine. 3dfx will be able to offer an extremely wide range of products based on this hardware. You’ll see anywhere from single chip (Voodoo4 4000 and 4500)
to dual chip (Voodoo5 5000 and 5500)
to quad chip products (Voodoo5 6000)

V4 4500 $179
Voodoo 4 4500 AGP and 4500 PCI
32MB Graphics Memory
337-367 Megapixels per second
32-bit color rendering

V5 5000 $229
Voodoo 5 5000 PCI
32MB Graphics Memory
667-733 Megapixels per second
32-bit color rendering
T-Buffer Digital Cinematic Effects

V5 5500 $299
Voodoo 5 5500 AGP
64MB Graphics Memory
667-733 Megapixels per second
32-bit color rendering
T-Buffer Digital Cinematic Effects

V5 6000 $599
Voodoo 5 6000 AGP
128MB Graphics Memory
1.33 - 1.47 Gigapixels per second
32-bit color rendering
T-Buffer Digital Cinematic Effects

FPS won't be an issue in 16 player Bomber online games with this card this spring

I have a banshee 3 card voodoo chip set great card runs awesome in glide.Sad thing is most games in future will not be supporting glide even tho it performs better as some sort of patent on the glide so only a few company's will be able to make cards for it.Sad to say but true d3d will be the future and games will be focusing on this as you will see.If iI had my preference i would by a voodoo 4 or 5 also but it looks like it wont be the way to go even tho it can perform better in games that support glide.
Take for example delta force 2 (a game i took back) because it wont support vooodoo chip based cards and i could only run it in software mode for graphics ,this is unfortunatley the way i think the future will go,also i hear b-17-2 will not support glide either so so much for my theory that maybe flight sims would at least keep supporting glide.

I feel your grief when it comes to Flight Sims and lack of Glide support,as I'm one
of those individuals who only has one or two
games on my HD (that being a WWI or WWII flight sim)
Interesting enough......... at Razor747's site one can conclude that the Voddoo 3 can outperform a TNT 2 Ultra in D3D.(let alone
pull far away in Glide)
And from the specs at http://www.3dfx.com a V4 or V5 will crush even a GEforce I'd assume.

If you want support in the future and a better card for other apps besides just games then the TNT 2 cards are the better bet TNT's cards are a bit more versitle imho than the 3dfx cards for the other stuff I use my card for.

B17 II won't support the V2? Gawk! Well if I needed an excuse to get a better video card, that's the one!
Now I just have to deal with the war office (wife)

I only wish that 3dfx continued to make secondary cards. I like the flexibility of having 2 (well 3 actually) graphic cards. For me a GeForce/V3000 pci combo would be a dream if you only didn't have to piss about with changing monitor cables.

Yard, run -dont walk- to your nearest computer store and get a monitor cable switchbox. A friend of mine has 2 computers (the other one is a linux box) but only one monitor. He uses a switchbox to switch between the computers. I don't know if he bought it or made it himself, though

Thats what i was thinking. Use it in reverse

Might want to think it through though and get some more advice. I'm too tired to think of the worst case posiblities right now

the other problem with that though is cost
i just don't have the money to start doing that
