After I finish my current project, I'd like to create some really simple infantry dudes that can run around.... kind of like the one's in Jane's WW2.
My question is... given the current state of the art with moving ground vehicles and such, would this be possible?

It's possible JT but does have limitations. You have to be sure the ground they are on is very flat, otherwise there is that sinking into the earth problem (or on the otherhand they could go airborne). You could have a group of guys that run together and the entire unit is one ground object. I think that would be cool, and would make for placing the unit in missions fairly easy. If you did just one man though, having to place several of these 1 man units leads to problems. The mission editor (I've found) has a nasty habit of taking two nearly placed ground objects and piling them on top of each other, giving both units the last placed objects identity. You could though do some manual mission creation for this to work though, but be sure you don't open up the file in the mission editor or it'd go wacko.

But sure JT, go for it! Use the V-2 site as your beginning file and replace the V-2 with some little dudes, change the travel DOF from going up and down to a horizontal one. Reduce the speed by increasing the length of time it takes to travel, and then you could give each little man his own moving arms and legs.

Hope that helps get you started. Oh, you could even make a couple simple buildings as part of the ground unit, and then have the group move between the buildings (go to one, pause for so long, then they run back to the other one). Just a thought.

I toyed with this idea a while back (rember, the "Prop-butt-men"?) I still have a copy of this guy. It's basically a standing pilot, with a engine. He works ok, except he doesn't have a skin, and he moves at about 60-8- MPH I could send you what I have sofar, and you could take off with it, if you wanted. Not too sure if you can set waypoints for him, but if you can, you could have the guy run around where ever you wanted. Also just reduce the RPM of the engine to get him moving a t a normal rate.
