Just something I've noticed with 5.3 and wish to pass along,sorry so late with it.I downloaded PP 5.3 beta 8 nearly 2 weeks ago. Completely Uninstalled SDoE. Installed SDoE fresh,patch 1.5,PP 5.3,SDoE Control 1.3 After setting all setting in the game and SDoE control 1.3, a bug with the pilots name not saving seems to have surfaced. Everytime I exit the program and re-enter, the pilots info reverts back to new pilot and default country. In SDoE control 1.3 it does seem to however save "Net Game Name" after you set it.But, both in the game and in SDoE control,pilot name doesn't save. Someone told me while playing online SDoE that they didn't have the same issue,BUT,they installed 5.3 ontop of 5.2 instead of starting anew like I did. Rattler IP: Logged |

Rattler;Just for info, in case it helps you.. I did a new install for 5.3 beta testing, and have not had a problem with that. Just installed the sim, patch 1.5, and 5.3beta8. No other add ons of any kind. Saves pilot ok.

Rattler, Sdoe control only saves and reads in the ini file values when you use it. The game however is changing your pilot name and causing the problem. I have this problem lately as well as another guy. To check your name is being saved in sdoe control, edit your name and then click the 'edit ini' option, look down the ini file and check to see your name exists in the line 'PilotName='. Run the game and see what happens then. It was only after adding 5.3 beta and uninstalling it that this occured so maybe there's a remnant left behind interfering with it? I usually get the changed pilot name when I get a crash to desktop or such and I usually end up back in the lobby with an offline handle. Removing all but my online handle results in 'New pilot' when the problem occurs. cheers

No... I know what the problem is.... He went and played a game before copying his pilot files back in. I don't know how to fix it short of just blowing it away and copying your pilot files before running the game. That did it to me as well and that is how you reinstall. It doesn't have anything to do with 5.3. It has to do with SDOE remembering the pilot you used last... and it doesn't recognize those new pilots just dropped into it. Just remember when reinstalling, to copy the saved pilots in before running the game for the first time. Otherwise it doesn't understand. And one more thing, since the planes that you killed are stored in the Pilot file itself, it doesn't matter if you have the plane installed yet or not.. it isn't looking for the plane like the mission editor. It just prints the name of the plane up there. ;}
