As I was getting ready to go to sleep last night I stumbled upon a Jimmy Stewart movie where he was an Aircraft Commander of a B-36 bomber and then a B-47. It was so cool with lots of great footage! Anyone else see that movie? (maybe not last night, but ever)IP: Logged |

Strategic Air Command!Pretty good flick. Stewart was, of course, a real life bomber pilot (B-24s) and Air Force Reserve officer for many years. Retired as a Brigadier General back in the 70s. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

The Discovery Channel Wings episode on the B-36 had a quote from a former pilot, "Flying a B-36 was like sitting on your porch and flying your house."IP: Logged |

I really don't think the B-36 would be too hard to do, given the overall shape. The problem a full scale model would present though is "where do I land this thing?" since the runways in SDOE really aren't big enough. (Same for my potential C-5)IP: Logged |

Yep, my 95% complete model was lost in a HD crash =\What I was going to use the B-36 for - let the AI loiter around with it, and build a XF-85 "Goblin" to attempt mid air "trapping" on a trapeze lowered from the B-36's bomb bay (Imagine trying that online!) - Project FICON - mmmmmmm! http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/air_power/xf85t.htm I weeped when I discovered my model was gone.. =( [This message has been edited by Dole (edited 02-15-2000).] IP: Logged |
