I have tried to save more than one version of the same plane . I have renamed them, and put them into their own texture file, but when I bring up the SDOE sim, I can't locate the different versions. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Sun Tzu,.
I have two running with no trouble. One is D:Fighter Squadron and the other is "D:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron On Line. I have separate desktop short cuts for both and individual installs of Groundcrew, SDOE control etc. All are named a little different to tell them apart.

I know what you mean Sun Tzu, and it's not a stupid question at all. What you need to do is to rename all the links inside the plane's sm file. To do this I use Hippy's extractor and builder to open up the sm file, open the readable .asc file in it, change the names/links of everything you have changed (eg, from SpitV you make SpitV2) and when you think you're finished build the file up again with the builder. Should work. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but it works simple and effective.

Cu,

Or, if you are lazy and don't want to do that.... just install the game, then make a copy of it with a different name.... I.E. the original is FS. Then make a copy and put it in fspp2.
Now, rename the folders as you need. For example, I have FS installed as d:\fs. Then I made a copy of it and named it fspp2. now I have fs and fspp2. Then I installed Plane Pack 5.3. Now I have a 5.2 version for online, and a 5.3 version for testing. when i want to run 5.2, I just rename the fs to fspp3, and fspp2 to fs. Viola. start the game and it is fs Plane Pack 5.2. This is easiest and you always know what is what and you don't have to edit anything. ;}
