A couple of side notes. The Saratoga's texture isn't mapped right because whenever I remap it it renders the deck useless for landing (you fall through). So until we can find a fix for it, the mapping will stay as is.Also the Uboat SM file can be extracted with Hippies program, but not rebuilt. If you notice the railing on the top of it is messed up, thats why. I'm unable to successfully fix the texture flags for it. Other than that I hope you guys like this stuff. As far as most of the V2 textures go, they are big pictures. I didn't hack them up into smaller ones. I just realized that... oh well, it makes painting new schemes very easy for you guys. Anytime Here's what's in work at this moment. B-24 PBY-5A AH-1 Cobra Heli (based on Jags Huey) BlackHawk Heli (" " " ") Also I have parts lying around for that Gotha V I mentioned the other week. I want to do that too, so don't think I won't I'll get to everything I plan, it's only time I need. On the back burner now... F-14 F-15 S-3 Viking A-4 Skyhawk A-6 Intruder EA-6B Prowler A-10 F-16 These are all in my game here, but as complete 1 piece deals. Lots of work and months and they'll all be nice models. And eventually my C-5 Galaxy shall be done (as the OpenPlane wonder of the world... it'll be DOF city)

Couldn't we back up Parsoft's A10 version from A-10 Attack and A-10 Cuba games?BTW, what are the differences between A10 serie and OPP? I guess it's OPP by itself, so what was the base code of A10? ------------------ P/O STef, EAF STef_EAF329 stephan.bondier.free.fr/gazette.html ICQ 52072208 IP: Logged |

The A-10 series is completely different technology. Updating the A-10 models to use OpenPlane would be as much work as starting from scratch.IP: Logged |

Well Michael, when you are ready to update the A-10 engine to be "OpenPlane-able" let me know. I'll do what I can for it. In fact I do have an A-10 already started and in line behind all the other planes and projects I'm doing. (I'm saying this semi-jokingly but I do remember A-10 Gulf! being talked about way back). It's still a very very fine sim and I still fly it to this day. What keeps me coming back to it is the night flying. I just love the lighting on the runways and taxiways. Just gorgeous stuff. When that kind of thing makes it's way into the newer sims you are working on that'll be fantastic. What I really long for in SDOE is a similar mission editor to the Mac sim, A-10 Attack! That was very nice (and is right here, still useable in my old PowerMac that I can't seem to let go of). Anyhow, just wishful thinking on my part [This message has been edited by Pete Hawk (edited 02-08-2000).] IP: Logged |

Pete take a look at the new Abacus Design Studio Pro and see if that could work somehow with sdoe. Go here to see it http://www.abacuspub.com/fs2000.htm Once there go to the Home page and look for the links to Design Studio Pro. There is a lot of info but they have it scattered all over the place so you will have to dig for it. [This message has been edited by Hawk (edited 02-09-2000).] IP: Logged |

Thanks for the info Hawk. Just looked at that site. I'm waiting for an answer from them. IF this works (their files have some sort of converter into 3DS, OBJ, or DXF files) this will be a Godsend! Do you know why? We'll have access to scenery for the WORLD!!! Keep those fingers crossed. Also, if possible maybe Hippie could come up with an .BGL or .MDL converter that can process files from the brand new 2.1 version. This could be incredibly cool and helpful. Thanks! IP: Logged |

So are you guys at least enjoying the moving carrier, trying to land on it and not crash when it's pitching in the waves? I've been slammed into the deck until my plane explodes if I don't time it right. It's fun. So far Roadtoad is the only one who has said anything. I hope more will try this stuff I've worked on. Pete I landed on it last night. That freakin thing is so huge it took very little skill, which is fortunate, because thats exactly how much I have. Your right however, the plane does eventually fall off as the carrier continues on and the plane, for whatever reason will not stick to the deck. Lot of fun though. PR=FC=

Hehe, funny PR. I'm sure you are much more skilled than you think. Well, if we can fix my smaller "better looking" Saratoga to be "landable," it'll kick butt and be MUCH more tricky to land/stop on. [This message has been edited by Pete Hawk (edited 02-09-2000).] IP: Logged |

It is a very nice addition, Pete- your work, I think, is always appreciated (definitely by me!). I haven't tried this yet- but can we set a take off mission up on this version of the Saratoga. Course, even if we could, the plane would probably get bucked off LOL.IP: Logged |

Pete I hope you and I are talking about the same thing. "Design Studio Pro" is the new program coming out in March that makes objects, planes, ect. for MSF2000. Sounds like you are talking about their Scenery Designer. If you guys could get the mdl convertor that would open it up for me to start making planes or objects for sdoe. I have their Aircraft Factory 99 and have made several planes and I will get the new Design Studio Pro also. The Aircraft Factory 99 is to simplistic and will not make a very detailed plane but the new program works more like a 3d program and the plane or object could have as much detail as one wants. Interesting. Ok I'll go look for that one. I must have missed it. I assumed you were talking of Aircraft Scenery Designer 2.1Thanks Hawk. JT, hmmm, I have no idea. Could there be something I put in the mission that maybe you don't have installed? I've found that happens, if I try to run someone elses mission and I don't have a certain plane that they included, I'll get CTD as well.

Pete, it's not easy to find the page for the new program. Go to Abacus home page and on the left is a list under the heading "Flight Sim News" choose "FS Design Studio" When on that page go to the bottom and click on "To find out more about Design Studio Pro Click Here" then you will be at the page that shows screen shots of the program.IP: Logged |

Found it. Looks interesting. Reminds me of AC3D as well. If it could export to 3DS, OBJ, and DXF as well as the default MDL we'd be set! (or at LEAST OBJ) but don't count on it.IP: Logged |

Hopefully one of the wizards that move this sim will come up with a converter of some sort to make it work. It would be wonderful to have a simpler program so that some of us less gifted could participate in the construction of planes and objects.[This message has been edited by Hawk (edited 02-10-2000).] IP: Logged |

I would like to remind you I contacted a guy who try to make his 3D program able to convert flightsimulator's mdl files...He haven't been successful yet, but he's working on it. Contact him and tell him I talked of his progam to you, he will be happy to have some support. It's a shareware, by the way. http://www.quick3d.org/ ------------------ P/O STef, EAF STef_EAF329 stephan.bondier.free.fr/gazette.html ICQ 52072208 IP: Logged |

Pete, just a quick Q that probably has an obvious answer, I d/l'd all but the V2, and can place them in missions, but when flying the mission the ships don't move, how do you set them going?IP: Logged |
