Item 1: I've been playing with a program called 'lodestar' that takes a VRML file and LODs it. It works ok for simple shapes (the Viper's nose, center section) but can't quite handle the engines, other than that it work's peachy with minimal post program adjustments being needed.Item 2: I just ordered a book on WWI (kick my chair later and I'll cough up the name and ISBN) that has a rare picture of a Zepplin 'cockpit' (bridge??) plus quite a few pictures (German uber bomber, a Gotha CVI), stories, and era posters. I also bought Flying Corp Gold, which has documentation on unit strengths and equipment during the Great War. Item 3: The library I said I could email Pete H. is 5.6, 6.9, and 7.1 MB each, so I'll just send him a ship/object or two daily, if it is ok with him. Would anyone be interested in skinning the Viper (I truely doubt if I'll win the contest with it) if I manage to provide something like a template for it? My aritistic ability is only exceded by my ability to ski double black diamond hills (I nearly wussed out on a green square hill after several high speed crashes while attempting to stop). Whirlwind, I don't know if my ISP will handle emails that big (the three you mentioned). You may have to make them smaller portions if at all possible. Either that or up them to an FTP that I can get to ok.If you want to send you viper I'll take a look at that as well. It shouldn't be too hard to texture map. IP: Logged |

Oh, that goes back to the ship of the day . I'll just float out a few ships a night. I did realize that the sheer mass would kill my ISP as well. I'm trying to get the lod importer to work tonight, but I might just go back to the three windows: OPS, MS-DOS, and AC3D. I might just as well send it to ya, Pete, thanks. I do want to get the .lod looking good. As I figure it, I'll have the following arangement: 3 canopy, 3 nose, 2 mid, 2 tail, 2 wing, 2 fin, 3 engines, and 1 for the guns. I'm almost there. Here is the name of the book, but I lack the time to find the ISBN. 'Legend, Memory, & the Great War in the Air', Piasano, Dominick, University of Washington Press.
