5 pics in there.

This is really neat. The flames are animated and look like a rocket should (at least as much as possible in this sim). Now I'm deciding what I should have it do. For now it blasts straight up for about 50 seconds pretty quickly, and rides it's flame back down to the pad, pauses, and does it again. Implementing any kind of flight path to target is very tough with this. When Spanky asked me about this last night I told him that you could have missions where you have X amount of time to get to a site and blow up the V-2 before it lifts off. Only trouble is is that if it gets away from you, it'll be back shortly

Give me some ideas and I'll see what I can come up with. The toughest part of this job was figuring what texture went where. This is my first time not using one TIF for everything. I finally got the hang of it though, complete with the transparencies.

OH, BIGGEST DOF rule of thumb! (Again, lots of time wasted trying to figure this one out).

I was trying to animate the flame which was already part of the Rocket, which also was animated (had DOFs). I kept thinking that the ROCKET was the parent of the flame. IT'S NOT! It's the launch pad everything is sitting on!! A good 2 1/2 hours again of massive frustration. But now you know for your own peace of mind.

Enjoy the pics and I'll post this as soon as I develop a good strategy for it's deployment... also let's hear some ideas from you. It COULD be a flyable object, but it'd look silly with landing gear and flying horizontally. But that way the AI could fly it similarly to the V-1.

I'm also going to add a few more objects to the launch pad area. Just haven't decided what yet.

In case you are put off by the edges of the flames, they are spinning very fast and give a very nice rocket type appearance. Unfortunately the capturing of the screenshot stopped it in it's tracks.

Very nice, Pete!! I am still enjoying the V-1 immmensely. However, I tried doing the 3 zero waypoints thing and the AI just keeps flying level. My question is this:

1. About how far away from the target do you start the altitude at zero?

2. During the zero waypoints, what are you setting for the AI function (Bomb, Normal, or Sweep?)

3. How far apart are the three zero waypoints?

Thanks!

Ok, first they should be zero altitude AND zero speed. Set them pretty close together, hard to say just how close, but zoom the map WAY in and have the last three waypoints leading up and then onto your target. So far it works every time for me.

I'm just using normal waypoints, and the drop in alt starts a little after the halfway point, then drop the alt by half each waypoint, and then the last three are 0,0 0,0 0,0 for alt and speed.

Pete, can't you make it the same as the V1, ppl should know when adding it that the waypoints altitude and speed should really be set as high as possible (this thing is a no stopper, at high speed and altitude as we all know), but efectivly you could have it attack a target in the same way the V1 does, using the 3 waypoint theory to have it hit the target, obviously if there were anyway to delay it's lift off (so it doesn't shoot off as soon as the mission starts) that would be optimal

Pete, without looking it up I believe they flew about 50 miles up and over 4,000 mph. I know this can't be modeled in a 40X40 mile terrain but how close can you come?
