Well guys, it's just about finished, so here's some pics of the Snowy Dover )
http://members.xoom.com/naturlich/snowydover.htm

A couple of things though, it's going to be a big file.... cerca 45Mb, I don't know if making it a par file will help, and if it does which par numbers are free?? also, the terrain SM file needs editing so that the textures get loaded... ground, town, airfields etc.. (I took these pics by altering the dover textures rather than creating a new terrain, which I'm trying to do now) if you can help me out with this then I could have it posted in a day or two.

I love it! It looks terrific! Gosh, with all the work being done around here I'm running out of words to express my joy.

I wonder if we can get some kind of Terrain Pack put together for all the added terrains, i.e. Winter Rhineland, Snowy Dover, Island.?

Great work!

If anyone can help with the SM issues, let me know, I can't edit that, not got a registered OPS, so it just lets me see the problems and not fix them lol

Looking nice Nat. Get Hippy's tools for extracting the sm files, renaming them and building them again.
It's quite some work, especially since you have to do all the airfields and towns too, and you have to change all the links to snowy vegitation.

I've put my DoverNight into a data5.par file. There's enough space left in the file, but I was planning to keep that par file for all the night terrains, buildings, planes, etc.

It might be a good idea to make a par file where you put in all the snow terrains, together with all the new add-ons to come, like buildings with snow on the roof tops, planes with ski's, etc.

Maybe we can use data4.par, which is used by the FunkyTruck. Data6 is used by the Nations project. Data7 might be free, or it might be that Parsoft's cow in there. Data 8 is the Island I think, data 9 and 10 are the 2 Fokkers, 11, 12, 13 and 14 the PP.
I think it would be wise to put the 2 Fokkers, the cow and the FunkyTruck (data4) into the PP. This would open up 4 par files.

Is this list right?

Data1: Ships with the game (textures)
Data2: Ships with the game (sm files)
Data3: Ships with the game (sounds + ppf's)
Data4: FunkyTruck (by Parsoft)
Data5: DoverNight
Data6: Nations project
Data7: -
Data8: Bessie the cow
Data9: Fokker Dr1A (Red)
Data10: Fokker Dr1A (Blue)
Data11: Island
Data12: PlanePack
Data13: PlanePack
Data14: PlanePack
Data15: -

Btw, my site is now at:

Fire me off an E-Mail ( jaguar@fshangar.com ) I think I have a way that you can reduce the size of your map to less than 10 MB.

I'm gonne fly the terrain for a couple of days, replacing my usual Dover with this one so that I can have a good look at the textures, making sure it all matches up (like the new airfield textures having the same effects as the sorrounding country side. I've got alot further alot quicker than I expected, was helped alot by a prog I found that will split up large images, meant I could make one realy big image from the origonals, do the texture coloring bit in photshop, then cut it up again with the other prog... damn did that saze some time. Still, I'm trying to get it out soon as I can, I still hope by the weekend at the latest

There seems to be an issue regarding the .par files. I have put all of the available terrains into one .par file, data11 which just happened to be free. Otherwise with the Tundra and Island terrains, that would be taking up two seperate .par files by themselves. You shouldn't really be using the Parsoft Fokker anyway... it's been updated a bit, when the WWI Plane Pack comes out this will fix things a bit. The updated one is currently not contained in a .par file. It can be downloaded at http://www.cs.odu.edu/~ccrambli/sdoe/fokker/

I really don't think we need to have seperate .par files for Bessie and the Funky Truck. These are "just for fun" anyway. Of course, you can organize things however you want on your computer.

Here's what I think is a good plan:

DATAX.PAR terrains/textures
DATAY.PAR ground objects/loadouts/textures
DATAZ.PAR aircraft/loadouts/AC textures

Where X, Y and Z are numbers of free .par files.

Yes it does snow in the south east of england, not often but when it does it is thick and lasts for days. Had to use a Helicopter to get parts from Kent to Oxford one winter to keep a car plant producing when all the lorries were stuck in snow . Now live on the west coast of scotland and have never seen so little snow.

Yeah, but how much rain do you get?
I think it's probably like the Pacific Northwest US....wet but little snow below 2-3,000 feet.

Rain , Rain and more Rain . But the snow on the Mountains looks cool. Also like the palm trees growing 40 miles south of me where the gulf stream hits the coast.

Commando,

Sounds like home LOL. 40-45 inches of rain a year but snow capped mountains and skiing 90 minutes away. Summers are great though...high 70's low 80's and the beach is only an hour away. This is God's country....along with Scotland of course.

once again I'm trying to upload Snowy Dover to my site, I waisted over 3 hours last night on it, twice the upload just vanished once it finished sending, believe me that pissed me off big time, anyway, I took a couple of hours earlier to touch up some of the texture maps to take out some color differences on the sea, there are still some join lines showing, but I've not been able to get rid of these... maybe when I do I'll send out the new textures as an update, but overall I'm pretty pleased with it, and hope you will all like it maybe soon we can start work on adding new terrains instead of re-vamping old ones
