After many hours of hair pulling (due to a really bad move on my part) the U-boats travel (no bobbing though, just straight travel). After I had one working I setup a mission and checked it out to make sure all was well with it's 21 ish kts. It worked fine and looked cool. Well, that darn mission editor drove me nuts! I changed the AI targeting for a few boats to include 'airplane_set, 'landcraft_set, and 'seacraft_set in the 'cap_set setup. Cap set encompasses them all. The idea was a battle between the Uboat and the Akagi. In the mission editor set the two vessels pretty near each other, but not too close. I really wanted to see if they would fire upon the other. Well, I saved the mission and went into the game to run it. It NEVER failed that the last one placed ended up ONTOP of itself! It's like it cancels out the other ship and just puts on copy of the Akagi directly ontop of another one. I hope this gets fixed because it makes it impossible to place ground objects near other ones. I imagine if I want to continue trying this I'll have to do it in a text editor which is a major bummer. Anyhow, my major FUBAR for the night was this. After the Uboat was all good and working, I set up a mission AFTER I tried to get them to fight, but this time with just 1 Uboat and the Huey to fly around in. I forgot that I still had the Uboat moving setup as the Saratoga! I put the real Uboat vehicle in the sim and couldn't figure out (for about 2 hours) why the damn thing stopped working! Looking back it's funny but I was going insane! I'm like, it JUST worked the last mission, what the heck did I do? hehe. I was NOT a happy camper at all, until I realized what I did. Anyhow, while starting on my V-2 project I just got the urge to make the U-boat into a mover, and it is now. I'll try to get the carrier, the PT boat, and the U-Boat posted today. Great work Pete!I've had the same problem with Carriers setting on top of eachother, but found a way to create the mission so that doesn't happen. I'll email you the mission with an Akagi and a Saratoga side by side (maybe the width of carrier's worth of water between them, each with a zero(the latest from Mposis)on the deck. Made with version 5.3 planepack. Rattler IP: Logged |

Nat - That 'damn Huey' is actually quite easy to fly if you follow these two points:1. Throttle up slowly, and never over 75-80% 2. On take off have stick pushed almost full forward until you gain some altitude. Assuming you aren't twitchy, this works almost every time... Now only if the cockpit (and gunsights!!) were fixed. I haveto finish this "damn Dauntless" before I finish the Huey .......... The Huey does fly close to the numbers.... the only problem, is that it's a bit too powerfull, and you can easily go past the numbers..... Once you do that, (I believe it's due to retreating blade stall) the nose pitches up, and the chopper tend to roll. It just does lots of funk stuff. But it CAN hover.... but just like the real thing, it's hard. Bottom line here, keep it slow, and rember that this is still an alpha release. It's nice to know people are still flying it.

Jag - Assuming Pete continues work on his awesome Navy Jets, Vietnam in SDOE might become a possibility! We could even semi-simulate SAMS by setting up a battery with (I dunno) 20+ rockets mounted on a turret-like rotating apparatus and set to explode once their fuel runs out. In the next version of the huey, what about a button (like the cockpit one) that opens/closes those sliding side doors and another key that activates a wav file of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries? Actually the Huey did have sliding doors (one of the first A/C in FS to have them, thanks to Razor!)........hhhmmm I suppose I could just change the engine sound with Wagners , the only thing is that you don't wanna pull full power, or the Voilins will over temp. LOLSeriously though, if anyone has any suggestions for the Huey, let them fly! ------------------ Cheers! Jaguar The FS Hangar IP: Logged |

Jag-I love the Huey, and if you were to polish it up it might inspire a certain somebody (*cough* Pete the modern stuff king *cough*) to make a Blackhawk or Hind, perhaps? Anyhow, here's my list of suggestions/grievances: -Fix the cockpit -Fix the sights -Add sliding doors -Add 'turret' positions (AI controlled) for large MGs pointing out either side of the heli (instead of the gun pods) - this doesn't have to replace the current setup, it can be another version. -Fix the high-throttle-induced-rotor-warp (above 75-80%) -Strengthen connection between rails and Huey body. Please say you'll work on the huey! Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Email Werner to be listed in SDOE's online phonebook today! IP: Logged |

your darn right I'm going to work on the Huey!... infact me and razor were fixing the FM today. I added every one of your suggestions to my "To Do" list. From what I hear, pete's having problems with getting the blackhawk to fly right, so if he's given up on it, I think I'll take it over once I get the Huey fixed. The hawk is my second fav. chopper...... If he still wants to do the hawk, then I'll take the Cobra ------------------ Cheers! Jaguar The FS Hangar IP: Logged |

Jag,Where do you get your info? The last I told you I had a working AH-1 Cobra, and I have a BlackHawk as well standing by. But the Cobra is first and is going fine. Just setting you straight. If you want to do the BlackHawk you are welcome to it. I'm also playing with a Harrier mesh that was sent to me by Ron Walker, a guy who does excellent 3D modeling in England. Speaking of which, I have an English Lightning, Bucaneer, the Sea Harrier (just mentioned), a Panavia Tornado, and a Sepecat Jaguar for the Brits. Like I said though, all his work. Some will require optimizing for the sim, but others are pretty much ready to be converted. So far I think I have about 6 models all in progress. I tend to go with different ones on different days, depending what I feel like working on.

Jag - Wow! Thanks! I'm really looking forward to your next release. Please send me anything you'd like posted online, this weekend I'm going to have lots of time for site upgrades, including setting up a "1946-current" section in the hangar. May I post the Huey beta currently released online?Werner ------------------ DOWNLOADS+PILOT ROSTER+FAN SITE INNOVATION=B.C.A.T.P. Visit Today! IP: Logged |

I love that Huey Jaguar, just so you know. Eagerly awaiting future versions...Cool images: Huey Gunship My favorite, the Cobra Bell H-13H I'm using the Huey picture resampled to 280 in the Hangar and boy does that look nice! (Even used to have a resampled/sharpened version as wallpaper because it's so damn cool together with a nice chopper startup sound). Does anyone happen to have a higher resolution version? I think the image is from Revell's Model catalogue. IP: Logged |
