Over the last few weeks, I have been getting an increasing number of "Host server not responding" errors while in a game. It pretty much happens on every mission I fly in. I normally get one message, and everything still seems fine, then I get a second message, and all others disappear from my screen. When I leave the game at this point, most of the time I have to kill SDOE (ctrl-alt-del) and at the least disconnect/reconnect the ISP. Many times I need to reboot to get things working again. This has happend in missions of 4-12 players. It is approaching the point of not wanting to fly until this gets fixed, as it is frustrating to me, as well as those I am flying with when I disappear from their game. ------------------

Its not a problem only for you. I have had the same problem for the same amount of time. And from what I have seen online we are not alone. It is getting old.-=BAB=- Gunner IP: Logged |

I wish we knew what was causing this. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Perhaps net problems? Perhaps something in the code looking for Activision servers, and they are being glitchy? Anything? Bueller? Bueller?

I've been seeing it too.. there is some sort of congestion problem on the internet somewhere between me and california. Every once in awhile my pings to there raise to some astronomical number other times I can't even connect to cali 12. I don't know if the in game problems we are seeing are from the activision server or the person hosting being on the other side of the congestion. Maybe Michael or Mighty can tell us what the message means.. would switching to another server help? TS IP: Logged |

That's a message we spit out when we get an error return from the ActiveNet library. I'm pretty sure it means that ANet thinks it has lost the connection to the HOST of the game, NOT the server. The wording I chose could have been better.Basically, with a UDP "connection" it's hard to tell whether you're still connected or not. I think Michael made some changes in our side of that code after the SMOOTS night. IP: Logged |
