Michael pointed me the way to have self starting DOFs. He wasn't sure if it'd work but he told me what to try. I tried it, started a balloon mission and they were moving on their own! Here's what you do. Click on a root object in OpenPlane Studio, then go to Object menu, then "Edit properties as text". Type in the command. In my case it was (cmdCanopyToggle) parenthesis are crucial to this working! By clicking over on the properties column on the right and adding it that way would NOT work. I had to edit the text itself, don't ask me why. But anyhow it works and these are the doors it opens up (IMHO). At mission start, for ANY object you can specify certain items on objects to be in motion, so you don't have to run around and turn them all on. (THIS RULES!) What does this mean? You could start a mission with the train I'm working on and as you are starting up your plane to go hunt it down, the train has already begun it's journey to where it's going. The flag on the Zeppelin will be waving at the beginning with no user input. We can have vehicles (I'm still making a working group) that'll be moving around your airfield, or the enemy airfield in LOOP dof's if you want, that way they follow a course and will continue to do so the entire mission (or until killed)... I could go on. This is great news though! IP: Logged |

Also, for those that would like to see the Zeppelin parked at a mooring somewhere, that's possible now with this new discovery! You approach the Zepp as it's crew is getting ready to take it out on a flight, it's bobbing up and down, swaying with the wind while it appears to be connected to a tower! Here's another little COOL moment from today. With the observation balloon I included a Control Tower property, so you can hop into that view and watch yourself fly around the balloon in whatever you are flying. What's REALLY neat about this is that the view is swaying like the balloon is, AND the balloon and your view float up to 3000 feet and you really feel like you are hovering, just swaying on the wind in a balloon! It's the first time I've ever experienced this in a game. The DOFs aren't perfect though and there extreme's of travel (like when it hits the end of going one way to go back the other) is a little jerky. I wish it was proportional so it would slow down near the end of travel and smoothly go the other way... maybe in the future who knows. But still, it's a lot of fun now.
