1. Put tracer.tif In the Plane's texture Directory. "Zero could fire pink tracers and the US planes fire stock orange or red."

2. Allow kill/delay to engine and pilot. I can make the engine a child of the radiator. When the radiator is killed it immediately kills the engine. Can you make it so we can delay the engine death to a set time (3 or 4 minutes)

3. Set "engine sputter" (Falck's idea) at set damage. (onDmg 5 | max rpm 100, 800)
Thanks to Whirlwind I got it. It should be.
onDmg 5 (engMaxHP 100, 800)

4. Change wing airArea with damage. (onDmg 5 | airArea 35)

I know you are very busy right now. Can you let me know how much of this is "doable" when you have more time.

I'd like to add my 2cents

1.) Real manifold pressure. If im not mistaken the mp guage is checking something like engine temp right now. MP should be an indication of the throttle setting correct?

2.) Make engine pitch a product of manifold pressure and rpm.

3.) Some sort of 'leakable' property for oil and fuel. Or possibly the implementation of a looping structure. Give an end condition and a time to get to that end condition.

I guess modelling MP doesn't make any sense without player-controllable boost, RPM, and propeller-pitch.

My wish, R4M rockets with a user set or misson set time fuse, this would allow rockets to explode within a bomber formation with no actual contact needed, which I believe would replicate how they were actually used. Also has anyone else noticed that the rockets launching from the right wing of the ME262 fly straight at first and then divert at different angles, the left ones keep straight, odd.

3-4 are doable Razor. I had the B-17 loose HP and RPM when the engine takes damage. I think the tracer.tif file is a global texture type thing. I am not sure about 2. I don't recall any mechanisms to delay killing an object in such a manner.

ALL I need right now is a delay function. Thats it!.

Eg. obDelay

Once this function is called apon, a countdown timer will be started. Once the timer reads 0, the next function will be activated.

I could do so much if I had this simple function.

There is an obKillDelay function, but I am not sure what that would do to an engine.

Doesnt it just delete the object from the environment? Used to clean up downed plane parts after so much time.

It just blows up the part. I would like something non-destructive. There's too much violence in the world today as it is

Whirlwind, I just took a look at the engine damage in your B-17. It works great. Thanks man.

Falck. That has been my experience. kill/delay just cleans up the killed parts.

A way for DOF's to be bonded to other model's parts or dofs, i.e. a catapult on a carrier can be temporarily attached to the nose gear strut / launch bar of, say a Tomcat and then, after the attach occurs, after so many seconds it automatically fires and you go flinging off the ship (this would rule!)

An easy way to implement WORKING arrestor hooks and wires. Right now it's so painfully difficult and very "touch and go." It really feels impossible to me in the games current state, but maybe someone can work some voodoo on it.

Allow DOFs that are moving something like a train or tank to pull the object up and down hills without going "into" them. Basically have terrain following DOFs.

Proportional DOF extremes. The dof reaches its limit and smoothly reverses to go the other way. Right now it's like JERK back the other way. Looks somewhat silly up close, but still works. Not as bad from a distance.

Animated texture mapping! This would open up lots of interesting doors. (like animated gifs, but with Tifs).

The biggies...

Variable day-night lighting, even real-time would be incredible. The sky gets lighter and darker by itself. It the weather is bad and getting worse the sky "fog" color darkens. Actual light sources in the game, for runways and such, flames, etc.

More control over weather, and more weather variety. Rain, snow, better wind control, with gusts and so forth.

DOPPLER SOUND! And more sound features. Be able to add sound to ANTHING in the game, and define new sounds. This would be GREAT! And let's not forget multiple sounds for a planes engine. From startup, to idle, to low rpm, mid, and then high, and even afterburner sounds for those of us who need it right now. And lastly, flyby sounds like you are standing on the ground at an airshow and a P-38 roars past you... that sound in the game would be killer!

I think that's enough for now.

And with this, a gradated horizon. It's impossible to create a convincing dawn/dusk effect without this.

I agree pete. Also a SUN
And pushing the horizon way out. Falcon4 uses very distant horizons that are obscured but not hidden by fog and it works quite well.

Would doppler sound be gained by implementing the A3D sound API or is doppler not automatically handled by it?

I was wondering if it could be used for other purposes.... the openplane spec says it will delete it after X number of seconds after it reaches it's max damage. Just never specify and obDetach 'engine definition for the radiator.
