What is going on?
Every time I try to load a new plane (well any plane not in PP5.2) it doesn't show up in the game anywhere.
Not in the Hanger, Training, anywhere. I can't get the Zero to load, or the P38mod, etc. Grrrr.
Highly frustrated,

Gunner,

You have to extract the Zero zip file to the Fighter squadron directory. After extracting it should have the a6m5 directory under media\aircraft directory.

OK ...

silly question time ... Do you perchance have any missions created for planes you've installed?

I personally haven't installed any individual planes, however if the users din't include artwork, missions and such ... unless you create a mission for said aircraft, you'll not find it to fly.

Both the p38jmod and p38jmodlo have training missions and hangar artwork. I have no idea why they aren't showing up on your computer.

It means there is no loadout.ppf file in the a6m5 or the p38jmod directory.

Im a pilot, not a programer. So what do I need to do about that?
I hate to be ignorant, but when nothing new shows up such as the new jet, Archy's tanks, and the above mentioned aircraft, there has got to be something that I am doing wrong. Or something in the setup is wrong.

Look inside the folders of the aircrafts that aren't showing up and let us know what is there. Maybe your Winzip is setup wrong and didn't extract stuff to the right folders. As far as my planes, you should be able to unzip to the FS directory and it will automatically put everything in the right place. There is a loadout.ppf included.

There are no aircraft folders for these planes. I have folders for the planepak aircraft but none show for the add on aircraft.
I installed them just as the readme instructed. No folders, no nothing.
This is really begining to tick me off!
Any suggestions?

Gunner, if you used winzip to exract these planes.. start looking for the .TIF files and find out where they went. Do a search for a6m5.tif, or even better to find the p-38 mod planes.. do a search for various2.tif on the whole system. That will tell you where everything is being extracted to.
to do a search, right click on the my computer icon in the upper left corner of your screen then click on search. Just type various2.tif in the named section then click on find now.
I think that your winzip isn't working correctly.
Let me know what you come up with.... either through email or here.... I would be happy to walk you through this on the phone if you wish.... just let me know.....

Hi gunner,

Hang in there, we will get it...I hope .
Lets work with just the zero for now. One step at time so we don't miss anything.

Do you have the following directory and file located under your main "Fighter Squadron" directory?

media/aircraft/a6m5/loadout.ppf

Also make sure you don't have a second media directory under your media directory.

Let me know.

So I just downloaded the newest version of the jet and installed it and guess what? Does not show up in the game.
If I have to do this manualy, what files go where? Ive got files all over the place.

Do tif files and sm files go in the same folder? You know that sort of thing.

1)media folder(in main directory)where sdemons.exe is.
2)aircraft folder (in media directory)
3)nane of aircraft folder:eg heinkel162(in aircraft directory.
4)in aircraft folder there will be 2 folders called sound and textures.all sound waves go in sound folder and all all tif and pcx files go in texture folder.
5)besides sound and texture folders in aircraft directory you should also have an(aircraft name)dmg.sm or an(aircraft name).sm and a loadout.ppf file. There could also be a cockpit.sm file as well.
6)in your media directory you will find a training folder, this should contain some aircraft folders with files whitch will have an extension .mis (in the case of the heinkel 162 they will be air to air combat.mis,Ground attack.mis,landing.mis and takeoff.mis
If you have these set up right Gunner, you will at least be able to run the training missions. From there you should get some idea of what files go in to gui, hanger and missions folders in the media directory.

Ok, I'll try also to explain it...

If, for some annoying reason, the pictures below don't show, go to:
http://members.xoom.com/harman_5/

and add "pic1.jpg" to the above address, and then 2, 3, 4.

Your A6m5 (zero) folder should look like this...

Those files with the funny arrow icons are the .sm files.

The file structure should look like this...

The directory where the .tif files for your A6m5 should...look like this:

Those .tif files should look like these:

Hope this helps Gunner.

Type the above in the address bar if it does not go there by clicking on it, and scroll to the bottom of the page and click the links there.
