The Heinkle He.162A1 is flyable and ready for you at http://www.greenforce.net/fs/fs.htm aka PANZER & ROADTOAD'S FLIGHT SHOP.

Be sure to check the docfile, as this is not an arcade plane - it's tricky to fly, and
spuds shouldn't attempt it.  Panzer has done a terrific job of modeling the FM, and
while it has all the characteristics that made the Germans assigned to fly it call it
"Widowmaker" he has made it a little more controllable than the original, and
once you get it a handle on its quirks and adjust your ACM to its advantages, you'll
find those spits & mustangs easy to whack.

Hi guys HOW ARE YOU GUYS GETTING IT OFF THE GROUND?

I realize it might have been a hard plane to fly and i'm ready for that but i can't get it off the ground? am i not going fast enough? I'm doing at least 130-150 and i can't get the nose up at all. I did it once iwth the flaps down and i had to push forward once and then pull back. Of course i crashed.

Any hints would be great.

Keep up the great work boys i can' wait for the 163.

Oh yeah wasn't the wings supposed to be up a bit?

Spanky,

Vau here...

imho best thing to lunch her is to fasten her up to 150 or so at full throttle, then lower the thrust almost to 30, sloooowly lift her up, and give full thrust again to prevent her from staling. Should work fine with flaps on 1. At full throttle, caused of the engine-position, the bow-wheel is pressed to the runway. In the air she behaves more moderate...

Good luck,

Vau.

Holy $&!# Panzer & Roadtoad. I just went to
your new site for the first time. Wow. Man, if you guys can turn out the P-47 and FM-2 that would be incredible. But, one of my all time favorite aircraft, the Pfeil!?!?! Yahoooooo!!!!!
Man I will be singing Deutschland Uber alles !!!

I got to see the Pfeil that the Air & Space Museum has this summer up at their restoration facility. It was incredible!! Got to see the Japanese Seiran in the paintbooth also. Oddly, (except for missing the pusher engine) they favored. Anyway, thanks guys I am really looking forward to seeing/flying it when it comes out.

Is the 162 _really_ this manuverable? It appears to easily outmanuver the Spit. I can enter a 5 gee flat turn and sit there at 408mph (my entry speed) until I run out of fuel. That seems a little hard to believe.

Maury,
we tend to fly with all the reality modes on when we're building things - turn on G force, and turn off god mode - then not only will you find turning against a spit different, your public perceptions of reality will be a shade more realistic.

Road: I always fly "full on", with gee - and what's "god mode"? I don't think I have that on either.

Gunner, the zip file is incorrect, it unzips to media, not Media as it is shown in my FS folder, you'll need to extract to it's own folder and manualy put the parts where they should be. Took me a few mins, but was well worth it
