It might be just my eyes, but it appears that the He-100 in the game has two wing mounted 20's. However everything I've read about this plane says it has only a single 20, a MG-FF, firing through the prop hub (plus the two 7.9's).I don't think I'm imagining it, it took the wing off a B-17 in no time flat. Of note, the D model never existed. This was a 'what-if' plane that also had a larger engine than the orginal 13 or so 100's had. The community liked it, so we kept it. Germany made a lot of stupid plane choices, like the Me-262 was in prototype in '42 but high command had other ideas which slowed its introduction until '44-'45.IP: Logged |

I was under the impression that 8 or so D-0's were left over from the A series sales to Japan and Russia, and formed a Heindel factor defense unit. I'm pretty sure these were the 1x20mm + 2x7.9mm versions.Maury IP: Logged |

Welp, I stand corrected, but the version depicted represents a version later than the D-0. D-1's were used as a propaganistic 'He-113', but really served with the Heinkle-Rostok defence unit. It was depicted as a day-night fighter.IP: Logged |

Maury,You can read the history of the Heinkel on my (very old) site: http://www.xs4all.nl/~hofstra/heinkel/ There never was an 'official' He-100 with standard armament. The model for FS was based on the propaganda plane which did have a cannon in the nose and two MG's in the wing. However, these were located in the wingroot and not in the wing. I have pictures (from a book I ordered in the USA) which shows this arrangement. The reason you could easily shot the B17 down is probably that no-one ever changed the loadout file. I remember using some pretty optimistic settings for the MG's! If I only had the time I could finish the plane! Pitty, no-one knows how the cockpit looked like! IP: Logged |

Nice page Van!Well I know there's a He-100D-1 still in the USSR, I've seen pictures of it on the web. Maybe if we ask real nice-like we could get someone to send up pictures of the cockpit? BTW I definitely had the D-0 and D-1 confused in my last message, my bad. But still, don't all of them have the 1x20? I'm not sure I understand the loadout issue. Can you explain this a bit? Is this something I can adjust here? I'm still very newbie with the OPP stuff. Maury IP: Logged |
