Take a look... http://members.xoom.com/hawkersop/images/upcoming

I really love navy jets. These are some I had lying around the HD and put into the game. Of course over time they will be converted with all moving flight controls, cool landing gear, cockpits, the works. I loved the premise behind A-10 Cuba and it too had a terrain that wasn't that huge. I got so much enjoyment from that they I really am going to bring (at least) those airplanes plus some new ones into SDOE and try to recapture that feeling. A sort of A-10 Cuba! II, but maybe using the Africa map and some new ground objects I could pretend it's A-10 Gulf! the sim that has yet to happen from Parsoft / Intertia.

So I still am doing the WWI and WWII stuff, these jets will come later on. Just wanted to give you a glimpse of whats ahead.

I used to be into Flight Sim Toolkit long ago, not really building them but collecting what I could find on the net and fly them. Also the CD it came with was loaded with somewhat lowpoly military objects. One day Hippie shows up in this community with a converter to make those files into OBJ files... and then we get to what you see here. They are not my own models but are from a large public domain of free FSD (FST) airplanes. I do build stuff, like the Tomcat, the Go-229, etc, but as for the Net, some of what's out there is crap but does make a good starting point. So I use what people started and finish it up, trying to make it better.

If you'd like to know if these are cool in the sim, YES! Especially when I give them all nice graphics and dofs. Can't wait!
Keep an eye on the URL because I'll be updating it with new pics often.

With all those new jets (including 2 that crashed, the S-3 Vikings) I did an around the map tour of Africa with ALL of them (8 total) and not until half way through, just the two S-3s crashed, but all the rest made it back to base and parked! Usually I seem to have more AI crash then this, but that was impressive I thought!

Like i said in the other post, if you need any help, just let me know. I LOVE THE A4D!! The prowlers are nice too. you planning on doing an Intruder? It's another great plane i love. We need a Phantom to go with the A4D, maybe i can make one. If my puter ever gets fixed.

Razer, (and to everyone really)

I have an idea but I don't want it to go over the wrong way. I thought about this a lot, here goes. A-10 Cuba's planes look similar to these (no textures), and were a ball regardless, to see and fly (ok, so you only flew the A-10). I'm thinking that since right now, they all are their own SM file (and texture that isn't mapped to the models yet), that I could post all of them just for you guys to fly and enjoy, until I get the actual really nice ones finished. This way it's kind of a freebie for whoever wants them. I mean, these in particular were free to me as well... so that's why I'm saying this. I'll do the work but don't want to get anyone upset over anything.

Here's why, potentially they could play havoc with your install, especially if you fly online. I haven't been online flying in a LONG time so it's no biggie for me. BUT if you guys want to do what you need to, maybe create a separate offline directory, let me know and we'll get them posted somewhere ASAP.

If the potential headaches outway the fun then I'll hang onto them until they are actually finished. But I'm here to say, even now with only the gear (not even close to being the "real gear" on each plane) moving they are a blast to fly in the game! So let me know.

Also for my own enjoyment I'm painting up one of the Africa airfield runway ends as a carrier practice type thing (they have them in real life and are very cool!) so when that's done I'll offer that to you all as well. I was in Subic Bay, Phillippines and watch S-3's and F-18s practice trapping on the runway (I believe they just went for the sweet #3 cable spot, didn't actully drop their hooks), and it was COOL!

Pete, are you talking about Microsoft Flight Sim aircraft? I am looking for a way to convert them to SDOE.

No, this is a different sim. It wasn't a huge hit but does have somewhat of a cult following.

Razer, I just put an F-4 in the game as well. I'll put a couple pictures of it up in a few minutes. It's not as nice as the others but it's a start.

Pete, ok so the planes from the flightsim toolkit are from something other than MFS?

I have A-10 Cuba and it is a great sim. The planes flew great and were smooth even with older PC's.

Yeah, it's completely different. You might find it in bargin bins for real cheap, with the name FST on the front in red letters. FST 2 is coming out sometime this year and looks pretty nice! It's at http://www.simis.com]www.simis.com

I just put in an A-6 Intruder and later today will add an A-10. Added a couple Intruder pics and one for the F-4.

This is nuts! I've now added these planes (main shapes, not all the broke down parts like flight controls and so forth)...

A-4 Skyhawk
A-6 Intruder
A-7 Corsair II
EA-6B Prowler
F-4 Phantom
S-3 Viking

I still have an E-2C Hawkeye to add, and gobs and gobs more. I need to just focus now on each one and knock them out into great plane add-ons.

Well damn, Pete. Are you an official FST product owner? I have a library of ships (WWII aircraft carriers, destroyers, and cargo ships) that I can't use. I downloaded the sucker and opened the readme.txt and found that this was a Domark library and its use was for 'Official FST owners' so therefore, legally I can't do much more than give it to a FST owner. I wonder how big the file is...

Anyways, I held on to it just in case I did find an original copy of FST at a ham fest or something.

Want me to email it to you?

Spanky, they ALL are flying It's wierd seeing them in this sim, and yes I remember flyint the F-4 in CYAC. I loved that game for a long time!

All I did was bring them into my F-15 sm file as the main object and hid (using a switchin distance of 1) all the remaining visible objects. Unfortunately the F-4 is probably the least nicest out of the bunch but sure, I can send it to you. I was hoping more would have seen this but the title of the thread is pretty vague.

After doing lots of flying in them, I say the ones I really love are the A-4, the EA-6B, the S-3, and then the rest. But wow, chasing the Tomcat in the A-4 is a blast! (of course the whole time I'm playing Commander Mike Metcalf, callsign Viper! hehe). But that plane handles GREAT and from the cockpit view it feels like you are just hauling butt around the skies, especially down low. The EA-6B is just a gorgeous model that reminds me of the Tomcat, a big heavy Navy jet. Speaking of that it's time to add an F/A-18 now

But really, for some simple "just for fun" flying I could release a pack with all these if anyone would like that. Let me know.

Whirlwind, yes I'm an official FST owner. I have lots of ships, vehicles, buildings, etc. I'm serious, making a whole new terrain with lots of neat jets is very doable now. Sure, you can send the ships if you want, might be some cool ones in there.

Only one plane missed that would make all of my favorite navy Fighters of the '60-'70s... the Corsair II. Add that and lets get some Viet nam Scenery going and a gunship version of the Huey and we are almost up to CYAC as far as possible aircraft and mission capabilities. God I love this Sim....

Duh... don't mind me.... I am being stupid tonight... I meant Crusader... I am just so used to saying I want a Corsair II... hehehehe
I got used to that from trying to find an affordable 1/48 scale model of one.... 30 american dollars is a bit too steep for me to pay for that model.. ;o

If someone wants to host these files I can zip them up and send them. Each plane is from 1 to 1.5 megs zipped.

Pete,

I would host anything for you that you want if you need it - I can make a page just for your stuff.

Maybe keeping them here at fightersquadron.com is a better idea though... just let me know if you want me to host anything for you.
