Ok, I was reading through the OpenPlane spec and saw the part about dof oscLooping commands. I made a nice German flag and it flys off the tail of the Zepplin. I was determined to make it wave in the wind, and I'm happy to say it does now! So Sv, and other WWI fans, you can do the same to add waving scarfs to pilots in those old open cockpits! This is really neat stuff, and very easy to do.My Zepp as the example. I open one instance of OpenPlane Studio (OPS) with the Zepp in it. I opened another instance of it also with the Zepp in it. On one of them I highlighted the main model (first big piece) and imported the flag lod. Doing this (since the flag was positioned in Max already) brought the flag into where I wanted it. But now that Zepp body was gone, but my flag was there, in the right place. So then I highlighted the flag, and under the menu I copied it to the clipboard. Next I went to my good copy of the Zepp that was opened and highlighted the main model part. With that done I pasted the flag onto it and it went right to it's proper location.
Next I added a dof (degrees of freedom) to the flag on it's leading edge. Rather than come up with a flag waving command (Cmd) I ended up using the canopy (Q) key. Once I aligned the dof up and down the leading edge of the flag, I gave it a Min and Max setting of -7 and +7 degs (this is how far it waves side to side).
Next I gave it these properties...
(dofID 'canopy dofOsc (oscName 'canopy oscLooping oscRuntime .1 oscParent 'B17g oscCmd 'cmdCanopyToggle 'cmdRunReverse)
The key there is the oscLooping command. Once I hit Q to turn it ON there was no switching it off, but who cares, I wanted it to continue waving in the breeze. It's still listed as a B17g, I need to make it Zepp.sm still. Guys, this adds SO MUCH to an already really neat airship!
I hope to be done with it shortly and then Sv can get a nice shadow done for it. Use this dof guys, it's soooo nice to see stuff like this in the game.
Now if we can get things like animated Gifs in the game to go with this stuff, wow, 'nuff said.
