Mad Dog here.... (Sorry about the punctuation. My comma key is busted.)
I'm sure we all agree that there are a few pilots out there that are consistantly better pilots than the rest of us. I propose to find out. I'm not too sure who would be THE top pilot but I'm sure nobody will contest my nominating Tailslide. That being said; I Mad Dog formally submit a challenge to Mr. Tailslide to engage in mortal combat with me on a yet to be determined date in a yet to be determined location (Rumors are flying around the press room that it will be in California) for the WORLD...HEAVYWEIGHT...CHAMPIONSHIP OF SDOE!!!!! If Mr.Tailslide would like to accept this challenge (word has it that he is cowering in fear) then we will have our managers do lunch or something to hammer out the rules and date. Perhaps someone would like to set up a SDOE ladder tournament for this sort of thing. It would do several things:1. A quick glance at the ladder standings would show you who the top dogfighters are in the SDOE dung heap. 2. It would definitely hone your dogfighting skills. 3. It would provide valuable experience in each plane (depending on how the ladder is set up). 4. You'll know who should probably be best avoided in online missions (if you want to live) :-) Maybe in future versions of SDOE they'll include a tournament mode. This is one of the things I sorely miss since the demise of the Fighter Duel series (Amiga and PC versions) and their associated ladder tournaments.

Oooops ... forgot to add this to my reply above:5. In online missions, you should know who to gang up on first IP: Logged |

Mad Dog here.... A ladder style tournament would be great and it's hopefully going to be the end product of this challenge. I know that someone had tried to start a ladder around the same time as the last tourney but I don't know why it didn't take off. Hopefully Tailslide will put his fears aside and step into the ring to decide on the first WORLD....HEAVYWEIGHT....CHAMPION OF SDOE!!!! ------------------ -Seperated and independant halves of a genius super-organism who believe that no game will ever satisfy them completely.

Would it be possible for me to be the impartial observer in this match? And then maybe a post fight wrap up article in the "After Action Report" section. The Ladder is good for the overall purpose but, Mad Dog is calling Tailslide out! Man to Man. This is good stuff! Yup, understood Gunner ... just thought I'd mention a ladder as an aside (related topic? )
BTW, Spanky (or TS for that matter), if you need a sparring partner I'm available ... I think I still have several ammo boxes of dummy rounds somewhere

Personally, the ladder idea doesn't appeal to me, though it does reinforce that this is a game, not reality, LOL!!But this personal challenge...ah...that is a great idea. Sorry, Mad Dog, but my money'd have to go on Tailslide also...only I would not expect real good odds! You are also a darn good pilot....I wish there were some way of all of us watching this, should it come to pass.. ------------------ nealg=FC= IP: Logged |

Just had an idea based on this thread: I wonder if we make an "spectator" plane where in it would just allow people to watch online: it would be called "spectator" and not have any nasty polygons cluttering up the game(they'd be all nice and hidden away). Heck, we could probably just use one of the existing planes, call it the "Spectator", move all of its view distances to 1, hide everthing, & remove its guns. Then we could have kind of an online theater of missions with say 8 flyers and 8 Spectators etc. Of course we could do that without having a spectator type plane, but with a spectator plane, it would balance missions better( now who the hell is gonna watch when they have a perfectly good plane to fly sitting there on the runway)? What dya think, an easy thing to do I think. Alrighty!!! ... looks like the match is on Nice idea, Archy. Got a feeling we'll need three planes though: one for Spanky's entourage, one for TailSlide's, and another named, "Token Hecklers". In anycase, I'll bring the chips and dip ...

nah elf, your almost right, we'd have 3 squadrons of "Spectators" Tailslides Tagalongs Spanky's Spankers And Token Hecklers, sounds good for the third. Then we'd have two normal planes & squadrons for The pilots. IP: Logged |

Better yet, lets have 2 spectator planes flown by two "camera men." - then a bunch of hidden planes to let other guys in. Then all spectators can jump from spectator plane 1 to spectator plane 2 and back to catch the action from both sides! One "camera man" can follow one competitor, and the other camera man can follow his enemy. Kinda like a sports game on TV. And DO expect comments from the peanut gallery ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

So where is this duel to take place? Need to make plans for the: "Backhand in Rhineland" or the "Smackya in Africa" or the "Bendover at Dover". I am sure it will be standing room only.

Spanky here.. elf mad dog is my roomate and we share a username for now. Just so you know. I'm spanky and he is mad dog. Any way me and Mad Dog were thinking you could make a mission with the 2 main planes and a whole wack of planes say 14 way across the map then have everyone eject out of those 14 planes. give it a couple minutes for the frame rates to calm down and then jump into or behind the 2 planes fighting. that should work ok. Tail when do you want to do this? Mad Dog stepped out for a few but he should be back tonight unless he dad takes him out for some drinks HAHA.. BTW i don't need a plane i will be in with mad (as in just watch his monitor)

Mad Dog here.... Alright then Tail. Championship title match is on!! When? (I'll take ya any day of the week....24-7....on three hours sleep....hung over...etc...) What should the rules be? I was thinking best 2 out of 3 in each plane? 3 out of 5? Bombers included? I'm still on the fence about the hud issue. I'll gladly fly without or with. I'm leaning towards no alt-v but hud. I find I get into trouble with speed and stuff without hud. But any way you want to do it....I'm gonna mop the sky with ya. I really like the idea of a camera plane but maybe a mass ejection would be easier. If someone wants to take precious plane building time and do one then more power to ya. Would be a neat addition especially if there are any title defence matches in the future....when I'm the champ.... IP: Logged |

TALE OF THE TAPE Not Mad Dog here.... Alright all you bookies and odds-makers listen up. We will first hear from Mad Dog's Trainer on the preparedness of the challenger: "We have him on a strict diet of potato chips and fried rice. He likes it." When asked about Mad Dog's current mental state he had this to say: "If you think Mad Dog is going to be easy prey you are sadly mistaken!" He continued in a harsher voice: "...And if you doubt the conviction and more to the point the sanity of Mad Dog...you could be in for a bit of a shocker. Upset of the century."
The passion in his voice couldn't hide the look on his face when he said it...the look of a man on a sinking ship. No member of Mr.Tailslide's corner could be reached for comment at this time. Hopefully his publicist or promoter will get to work and give the public some news. Rumors are floating around our offices that Tailslide and his entire crew are curled up in a ball weeping like little girls. Please keep in mind that these are just rumors at this time and are completely unconfirmed. ------------------ -Seperated and independant halves of a genius super-organism who believe that no game will ever satisfy them completely.

That's a lie! We .. uh.. all stubbed our toes at the same time. There's hardly ever little girlish weeping around our hangar (except when Zur spots the snack truck). Mad Dog, how about 2 sets of 2 out of 3 same plane fights. You pick the plane in the first set, I pick the plane in the second set. If this turns into a ladder I'd love to see a 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3 format, SDOE's all about teamwork. TS IP: Logged |

You know, I did set up a league for SDOE squadrons to compete in several months ago. Everything is up and ready to go, rules are written and the missions have been made. Only problem was nobody decided to fly...It is still sitting there waiting to be used if people want to start it going, though. http://www.alloutwar.com ------------------ All out War - Squadron Competitions http://www.alloutwar.com IP: Logged |

No html, the Flash is integral to navigating the site. The error is a Cold Fusion error because it isn't returning any values when you click on the 'View Games'. No matches have been flown, if they had, dates would appear underneath that you could click on.------------------ All out War - Squadron Competitions http://www.alloutwar.com IP: Logged |

Well I have been away for a couple of days. Glad to see the match hasn't taken place yet. And it looks like tonight is the night! The tension is high. I assume we are using Nevada state flying commission rules: 1.3 Rounds 2.At no time can either opponent be saved by the bell. 3. The one knock down rule is in effect. The Heavy Weight title is on the line! LETS GET IT ON!! (And no biting, hehe) ------------------ (Kill Or Be Killed) -=BAB=- Gunner
