Ok guys, Poodle and I have decided that it would make the most sense to do all the coding for new nations now, so that subsequent updates will only require new sound packs and therefore can be delivered in quicker succession. So, we need to know what nations you want added to the game. Right now we have:United States United Kingdom Germany and soon to have: Italy Russia Japan next up are: Holland France Canada Australia If you want a country besides these to be added, please post below. Also, please indicate if you will be able to help with a) locating images of medals and ribbons for your country, b) researching squadrons for your country and/or c) recording wav files for your country. This is important because those countries with all 3 criteria filled will be tackled first. Lastly, post ASAP because there will be a deadline for requests - 11:59pm Sunday (GMT). Thanks! ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Email Werner to be listed in SDOE's online phonebook today! IP: Logged |

Spanky here... What are you talking about AE71_INFERNO? Canada and Australia mostly used alot of the british planes So we have lots of planes for them. I don't know much about the Aus planes but Canada used the spit. The hurricain i would think the lanc. And probly some more (seafire and fury after the war at least) IP: Logged |

We have a Fokker for the Dutch. And nuum, countries of other era's are possible. The WW1 scene is really expanding so we can always add some of those countries later on. ------------------ Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Flying Poodle ! IP: Logged |

nuum- What language was spoken when the Austrohungarian empire was around? German? Hungarian? One more thing I'd like to clear up- The reason why I plan on making sound packs for countries like Australia and Canada is that even through they were allied to the UK, flew the same planes (for the most part) and spoke the same language (for the most part ) They had their own squadrons and have their own accents, so I think it would add to the realism factor, and appeal to players in these countries. How often does a sim come around that features Australian squadrons with Australian voices? With that in mind, if you know of a country whose language is already represented in the game, please don't hesitate to add it to the list. Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Inferno,We have no french plane (yet), but AFAIK french squadrons could use P-47's, P-40's and P-39's. Those are in the works, right? And maybe Mustangs, or was it post-war? Of course, they used a lot of spits too but mostly in RAF french squadrons, and those pilots were required to use english on the radio (just like polish, dutch and others). So they should be defined as english squadrons. The P-40, when released, could probably quickly be hacked into a P-36 (different engine). The french called it "Curtiss H-75" and used it against the germans and italians in 1940 and breifly against the americans in 1942. ------------------ Pachy's SDOE stuff perso.club-internet.fr/gledimet

I would do France in a second...but we do need some French planes! I have some stake in this one- a small chunk of my family lives in France. I would love to see the Dewoitine D 520 or the Morane-Saulnier M.S. 406!! In profile, the Dewoitine looks like a hybrid Mustang/Spitfire. So how about it, guys? If someone makes the plane(s), I'll do the voices, squadrons, medals, and whatever else.[This message has been edited by Jeeves (edited 01-27-2000).] IP: Logged |

A lot of European countries who were captured by the Germans flew at the RAF during WW2. They flew spits, hurricanes, you name it, but they had their own squads and talked in their own languages. The EAF is made of foreign squads at the RAF, and we have a 329 french, 322 dutch, 331 czech and 331 norwegian squad. There were also Belgian, Polish and Greeck squads flying at the RAF. At the EAF we have a list of all the foreign squads at the RAF during WW2. Eg, the Dutch had the 320, 321 and 322. Other countries had much more. Making medals for these countries is easy, cause during WW2 it were RAF medals, and the planes had the normal RAF paintings. Only a small icon of the country under the cockpit made it recogniseable which country the pilot came from. http://www.europeanaf.org ------------------ Is it a bird? Is it a plane? If ever get creator (I want to use it mainly for making my P40) I can see no problem with adapting it for a p36 i think that would be a great way of getting another plane in the game. I also want o make a P40Q. That would rock

About Austro-Hungary and WWI in general: I can't tell you if they spoke Hungarian or German (with Austrian accent), or both(probable), but AFAIK there were no radio sets in WWI-planes, and all the communication from plane to plane was by means of sign-language.Peter IP: Logged |

Austria-Hungary could then be without sounds, but maybe it's a bit too much to make a Germany WW1, England WW1, France WW1, etc. We could live with those countries' sounds could we? Correct me if I'm wrong though.------------------ Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Flying Poodle ! IP: Logged |

Heya,Nuum, Actually I already have JG1_Jasta 11 and JG2_Jasta 15 done and in the game As for sounds and WWI folders. I think that no wireless is better And for the new nations, perhaps for say Austrian-Hungarian, maybe we could just go with a "Cenrtal Powers" nation and so on. That will help from cluttering up the nations menus. And a note on the language for Austrian-Hungarian, to the best of my knowledge, at the time the common language between the nations that made up these states was German in on form or another. ------------------ Zoycite {GS} GUNSLINGERS visit The War Paint Factory IP: Logged |

Hi guys!Great to see things progressing. I'm ready to help with getting Finland into SDOE. I have all the 3 criteria filled already, except the sounds. The ranks and medals can be seen at our website: link in my signature. I'll just ask my CO if its ok to use them in SDOE. I can get a list of squads easily, but how much info do you need of them? Just a few lines? I think I can manage that If someone can send me a list of the required sounds, I can record them. I hope that is as easy as it sounds I guess the smaller the better, so I have to choose the sample rate carefully? My email is ville.pitkanen@hut.fi Camo

RUMANIANot only did they have a couple of neat birds of their own, they shot down more Allied planes than the Germans in defending their oilfields. Recently read about the Ploesti raid, and one of the survivors who was shot down & survived said as low as they were flying, this Rumanian who shot them down was not only flying lower, but inverted! I'll research and see what I can come up with - I'd like to model their best fighter once I catch up with the current stuff I'm doing. IP: Logged |
