I have a Logitech Wingman force, great forece feedabck, but it has tons of free play. I think this is why I can't aim in SDOE

Anyway, I want to get a new non-force joystick that has as little free play as possible, and works best for SDOE.

Any opinions? Good or bad...

Thanks.

I have a gameport version of the Talon and SFC Throttle from Suncom and both are made like bricks. The throttle even has a resistance lever to set, well, resistance. You can program all the buttons on the set. I'd probably would have waited for the soon to be released USB versions of both, but I had a $100 gift certificate for Zones so I bought the throttle and B-17 II. I picked up the Talon for $15 from a friend. I am quite pleased..

Sv- I've had my Logitech WingMan Extreme Digital 3D now for about 3 weeks and I couldn't be more pleased. It's worked flawlessly (which surprised me cause I'd heard some folks having probs with Logitech Joysticks), has rudder control with the twist of the stick (why I bought it to begin with). I had been using a Gravis Blackhawk Digital, which has also been a very good inexpensive stick, but it has no rudder capability.
I quickly discovered with my new joystick what I had been missing by using the Gravis.
I now can fly SDOE much more on the edge of a stall and\or blackout if needed and just love this stick. Takeoffs and aiming are much nicer too with the rudder control.
$39.00 from Logitech- no shipping charge- was the clincher for me to give this thing a whirl.
Oh yes, I think the amount of throw on this stick feels "very right" too.

Do you guys think the Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D is better than the Microsoft Precision Pro? Can the sensitivity settings be altered on the Logitech? Thanks

I wouldn't think of purchasing anything other
than CH Products.

I'd go for a USB force feedback Combat stick.
Pro throttle
and rudder pedals.

About $240 but will last a lifetime.

I have the USB Saitek X36 which is one of the best "feeling" combos out there. It works great, but I haven't figured out a way to adjust the sensitivity. CTFJ (which works great for analog sticks) doesn't do anything. Therefore, the "oversensitive" controls in SDOE may be an issue for you.

Does the Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D use the same Wingman Profiler software? Will it work with all rudder peddels? I have the simpre pedals and they work with my current logitech wingman force...

Thanks for the responses guys!

I too like my F-15E Talon by Suncom. I find that it takes a firm hand to move it. Very steady in flight. Also smooth. You can't slap it around. Rock solid on the desk. Programable. I'm happy with it.

Spanky here...

SV I use the logitech wingman 3d extream digital or what ever The new one not the older one.

anyway i love it and it does everything i want.

But i'm not saying you should buy it. If you have a couple good stores around you. I would say buy and try and return until your happy.

I do it all the time i probly abuse the return policys of stores in some peoples eyes but hey thats what its for.

Just buy everystick you think you might like and keep it up till you find one you like.

even if you do find one you like return it and try the other ones on your list. Other wise you may miss out on a stick that is even better.

I usually just buy the most expensive one via the internet, then pretend that I really really like it until I can't take it anymore, then I break down and actually research what the best stick is for my intended use.

What can I say? I'm a lazy, lazy man

esox, good luck on getting the sensitivity right on the X36. I must have put in around 5 hours trying to get it right but it is still too sensitive ( I too tried CTFJ, but no good for this stick). It is a great feeling stick and I can play Falcon 4.0, EAW and Flying Corp Gold with no problem but this stick is not playable in SDOE ( well I can not play with it). I do have the saitek cyborg digial (3000? I'm at work) joystick. It has the rudder control with the twist of the stick, you can program all of the buttons and it is very easy to do unlike the X36 which is a pain. I have no problems with it on SDOE or any other flight game. I'm not saying get this joystick, I just wanted to let you know more about this joystick. It is also on sale too but I forget the price, I think it is under $50 (US). I think Spanky is right, if you can test these sticks out and bring them back without any problems that would be best. I think the saitek has a better feel than the Logitech joysticks but do they fly better, I don't know. And esox let me know if you get the sensitivity right on the X36 because this is the stick I want to fly SDOE with. I got a SDOE profile for the X36 if you need it.
Himdog out.

PS. esox read in the HELP/FAQ "Zur or anyone else in the know" to see what I was trying to do with the X36.

Thrustmaster...the only way to go...if you got 300 bucks. Nothing else comes close if you want a rock solid stick that's gonna last.

Thanks for the info! My old analog X36 combined with CTFJ was hard to beat. Now with the digital, CTFJ has no effect I had a hard time aiming tonight. Does anyone know of a way to adjust the sensitivity in a digital stick?
