Hey guys! Gterl has delivered! I received a few sample wavs from him tonight. There is still a lot of work to be done on the project (see Project forum for more details) but I thought I'd share the fruits of a lot of labour with you guys tonight! http://members.xoom.com/fs_catp/combat01.wav http://members.xoom.com/fs_catp/combat02.wav Yippee! Just another heads up...As Road pointed out not all of us speak Italian - less still Russian likely. So while the official voices are great, it would also be nice if you got the same person to repeat the same words in English, with a thick accent. Then we could select which of the sound sets we wanted. Maury IP: Logged |

I think it'll be very educational to just let it be Italian. If you really want to now what he is saying, Unbig your data3.par file and go to the sounds folder. Pick either Great Brittain, US or Germany, whatever you prefer, and listen to the sounds. All the sounds are called Combat#.wav, and all the combat03.wav files have the same content, only in a different language. So, now we can hear what Gterl had been saying. The first one is very obvious. Attack! The second one will be: Break off attack! Learn all the 63 combat files by head and you'll save on the Italian course money ------------------ Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Flying Poodle ! IP: Logged |

Marky and Road- We're already one step ahead of you guys There is another Italian working on an accented english version. Ideally we'll be able to do the same for Russian and Japanese versions.Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Email Werner to be listed in SDOE's online phonebook today! IP: Logged |

Poodle - If there are enough requests, and (more importantly) a volunteer to do the recording, I'll coordinate and contribute to any language-pack project you guys want. Once these three are finished, and once I figure out what was done to create the new folders, I was going to try and coordinate Australian, Canadian (english) and French packs. There are enough volunteers for the Dutch pack as well. Also, I just made a Dutch non-existant version of SDOE. I changed the StringTable and you can download it at: http://home.wanadoo.nl/poodle/site/downloads/dutch_sdoe_b1.zip It's not much use if you don't speak Dutch, but you'll see that every option in SDOE has now become Dutch. Even the MissionEditor. It is an idea to do the same for a Russian version of SDOE (as long as someone knows "enable clouds", "mission doesn't match host", etc in Russian), and also other languages can be made. Even a Japanese would be possible I guess, if you put a Japanese font with it. Russian also needs a new font right? Maybe Japanese people would want to buy SDOE then. ------------------ Is it a bird? Poodle - That's pretty cool about the Dutch version. Maybe I'll do that one next. About the Japanese files, though, I'm kinda concerned. We got lucky on the sound files, turns out Siggi speaks Japanese. To be honest I've never encountered anyone Japanese online. The closest I've seen is a guy by the alias 'Blue Demon' in Singapore, but that was more than a year ago now. Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? If you fly EAW in the morning (CET), you'll notice quite a few Japanese and Australian pilots. So there are enough potential buyers over there. They have to buy an English version, so a Japanese add-on would make it better for them. We could even update the whole lay-out of the game. Maybe make it less SDOE, and more P too. But on the other hand, the Japanese are reading english too at EAW if I'm right. We'll see. Poodle ------------------ Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Flying Poodle ! IP: Logged |

Maury (I keep wanting to call you Povich)- The idea behind the Canadian/Australian nations is that I don't like flying BoB missions in a Canadian plane and hearing a british accent. Don't get me wrong, I really like Great Britain, but it all goes back to realism.Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Email Werner to be listed in SDOE's online phonebook today! Maury- I'm away from my home computer right now, but you can get the Radio Call Tables document in the documentation section of OPP Area 51 (http://www.fshangar.com/area51). Please record just the sound files, and I'll handle adding the radio clicks to each end. Also, when recording the files, please try to sound as enthusiastic as possible.Gterl- Call me paranoid, but I thought I would have heard back from you by now. Is everything ok? I hope that email I sent you didn't rub you the wrong way! Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Email Werner to be listed in SDOE's online phonebook today! IP: Logged |
