Has anyone tried to change the pilot at all in SDOE? I'm thinking of adding a nice pilot helmet and painting it up in a cool way, and also a modern flight suit paint job for the torso/arms/legs. If I edit the pilot are the chances of breaking the SM high? (ie crashing the game)

I'll try it anyways but just wanted some opinions if someone else has changed the model.

heya Pete,

I have only altered the pilot model slightly as a test. I was adding boobs to it For a possible Soviet pilot. It had no ill effects.

The textures are easy to do, but I did find that the torso displays funny. Maybe new mapping might fix that, its just real blury.

Good luck,

We've shrunk the pilots legs and feet to keep them from sticking out of test birds with no problems. Also, just taking the triangulation out of the mesh reduces file size by about 50%

Thanks guys, this is good to hear. RT, when you say you took the triangulation out of the mesh, are you speaking of exporting it out of Max as polys instead of triangles with that plugin? I'm starting to think I should be doing that for all my parts.

Pete, the polygon converter in the Max2Obj does NOT work. You can, and should, however, convert applicable sets of triangles to quads. Here is a link to the discussion about this...

By the way, to make quads, you must manually go through your model and hide edges. Let me know if you need to know how to do this.... it's easy.
