I'm still trying to figure out if my install of B8 worked or not.I have a bunch of new planes that showed up, but I can't fly the majority of them. The A8 works, but none of the 109's do, nor any of the other new planes. For most of these the problem appears to be that there are no missions in Training to fly them with. Is this correct? For others, like the 109's, I can't explain the problem, but soon after starting with one I crash to the desktop (and yes, I do have the line in the file). My question is what _should_ I see? I see many mentions of files in subfolders inside Media, but I have none of these. Should I have these? Or are all of these files in the .par's? Should I have more missions and/or training? Or does the B8 not include these? How should the new planes work? How would I get to fly the Go for instance? Sorry about the questions, but I am trying! BTW, I think I'll make a readme of my solutions if we get that far. Maury IP: Logged |

Well should I get more than just the .par files from the install?Should I see new missions? What happens when you go to Training, then select the Go 229, do you see training missions for this plane? Any ideas anyone? Do I have the wrong version of the game itself? I'm running 1.5. Maury IP: Logged |

I've been doing some testing. I made s simple mission to plug in the various planes to see which work and which don't. So far...Does work: The 190A8 works. The new cockpit is OK too. The A4 works. The Spit Mk.IX works, and the cockpit is excellent. The Mk.V works. Don't work: 109's crash out to the desktop. The 190D9 crashes to the desktop. The A-36 crashes to the desktop. Go229 crashes. I gave up at that point. Essentially it seems that most of the planes that pre-existed work even with modified versions (although the D9 breaks that rule), but all of the others don't work for me. So, what could this be? Is it possible that the installer is not installing some file I need, but is on your computer already (Razer)? Maury

Don't take this as gospel...just letting you know what I have, in case it gives you an idea...Used a clean install version...I still have my original in a seperate directory....so when installing the pack, I have to unzip to a working directory and copy the files as needed. Using only the game and the 1.5 Parsoft/Activision patch, installed beta 7 and got lockups with the 109's...but all planes were there in training. Got beta 8 and replaced the parfiles and startup.ppf with beta 8. All is working fine now, have flown all the fighters in training except the 190. Flew the 229 only in takeoff training, but no game related probs. Flew some canned ( original 0 missions with the Spit MkV, and no problems with crashes or lockups. I have no add on missions, planes, skins, or objects and have not tested online yet. Ok...just thought this might help if anyone is still having game related problems...maybe it contains a clue or something. I'm definitely not a tech..

G'day All,I finally got the installation sorted...And I do feel a dick-head....In the default address for the EXE it is C/Fighter squadron.....now I use the default location for FS which is C/Program Files/Fighter squadron......So once that was altered on the EXE it went in like a dream....Perfect. Razor may I suggest that you add that to the final release so as to avoid any confusion? I took all the 109 variants up to 6k and tried out the stalling of these beauties....WOW....The spinning does increase very fast indeed.....and you have to catch it quickly, just roll in some opp rudder....it slows gradualy, and you are back in perfect control.......This is just perfect. The guy's at opp's must be congradulated the dynamics are just fantastic.....This PP WILL be the rebirth of this sim.....I take my hat of to you all. Congradulations to you all....Well done! Glad to here you have got it up and running Redback.I have been working non-stop for 4 months on the 4 109s and more recently the Fw190D-9 and A-8. Strictly speak they are not OPP projects as neither MPosis or myself have signed on the dotted line. However, just so that everyone involved gets their fair share of the credit for these aircraft: 3D modelling, texture mapping, placement of cockpit instrumentation and all things Openplane - MPosis FM work (i.e. dealing with my endless complaints that I was getting shot down by AI P-51s when flying the Dora-9) - Zurawski Cockpit design and intrument texture mapping in the original Bf109G-6 - Vanderstok External textures, cockpit panels, instrument textures and reflections - Yardstick. ------------------ Yardstick painted this

Ok, my B8 is working. The install did something odd, and I didn't get a working data 12. Very cool now. While here, what's up with the Go 229? It seems that eventually the plane will go supersonic and then break up - even in a climb! The plane seems too powerful. Also with that thick wing the crit mach should be something around .69 to .72, so I'll have to test it to see where the plane hits it level - but it happens so fast it's hard to tell. Wait, I AM seeing mach effects here right, and not a new problem I should report? Maury IP: Logged | |
