What's the possibility of a kamakaze AI in FS? Basically the AI would try to crash into the target but it would not lose points. If you did this I think we could have air-to-air missiles, working V1 / V2 and of course, Japanese kamakaze pilots... Elric IP: Logged |

Don't we already have Kamikaze AI The best way to clear you tail of 2 computer controlled opponents is to barrel-roll and watch them collide. ------------------ Yardstick painted this

Never play "chicken" with the Kamakaze AI. In a head on pass you'll lose every time. I have lost far more planes to the AI due to ramming head on then any other way. Just get out of their way. IP: Logged |

Nothing beats the time a flight of Dora's played ramjagger with a flight of B-17's. Oddly, the ramjagger was rather successful.IP: Logged |

I think Kamakaze AI would make for great CAP missions around a carrier fleet. I haven't seen this on any other sim. IP: Logged |

Kamikaze AI will be required for the pacific sim we have on the back-burner.IP: Logged |

Low enough to keep it warm but not so low the flame goes out.Our dev team is fully comitted to our current project while our management looks for publishers interested in a WWII pacific sim. IP: Logged |

Another reason why I believe the success of B17-II is vital to the future of serious WWII flight sims. If B17-II is a hit, 'FS Pacific Theatre' is more likely to be perceived as an attractive proposition by publishers.I don't want to think about what will happen if it bombs (pls pardon the pun) - get ready for the dark ages ------------------ Yardstick painted this

I'd beleive that a rename of FS Pacific Theater would be required since FS:SDOE didn't exactly sell a million copies and didn't exactly get the best reveiws out of the box. Perhaps a new name like Wildcats:Hell in the Air. Of course it would require little effects to make up for the general lack of land in the pacific, for the most part, like moving ocean waves, seagulls, and a rare non-combative vessel. Ship to land missions would require jungle and perhaps tracerfire to represent an ongoing battle for the island, when applicable.IP: Logged |

Whirl, did you ever play Eric's original tour-de-force, Hellcat's Over the Pacific? It was _wayyyy_ ahead of it's time (Mac only though), released back in '91.It took place over either the Marianas or the Philipines, and because the speeds of the planes were fairly low, this worked out to being a LOT of flying time from one end to the other (even with sped up time turned on). In fact these sorts of maps may work better in SDoE's engine _because_ a good portion is flat and featureless, so perhaps the memory issue goes away to some degree? Maury IP: Logged |

Unfortunately, Macs have either been out of my price range, or couldn't run the software I wanted to. I have played AOTP and had a blast taking off off the clone carriers as both the Japanese and Americans. I never got past the Layete Gulf missions as the Japanese. The SBD's kept sinking the Ryoyo (yeah bad spelling) before I could take them out. My wing men were not smart enough to try and I couldn't figure out what to do next...I can't wait to have missions long enough to be able to stay at an altitude and wait for the enemy to climb to me. Waste their fuel, and reduce their time on station. IP: Logged |
