Here it is (Werner!)

My first tank type vehicle. It's done in Max now and will be sucked into SM format tonight. I even have a nice hatch on the turret roof. As you can see in the pic the texture template is nice and ready for colorizing by you guys. Just put two more pics in there.

Tanks guys :P

Actually, that only took about 4 hours. I started with the Tiger tank and just reshaped it while looking at T-34 blueprints. Only trouble is... the sm I made shows up perfectly well in OPS, but crashes SDOE. I sent it to you Werner, so check your email. I hope you can get it working in the game.

Crazy ain't it! My complex F-14 never crashed SDOE on me yet, and this simple little bugger does it on it's first run

Sleep? Ah don neeed no stinkeeng sleeep!

When Werner sees that, he's gonna start crying!! Nice job, Pete!! Now we have a ground vehicle to go with Soviet Nation and the new planes! Can't wait til I start the Stalingrad campaign ! Now, I made this suggestion last year on your site when people were still poking at OpenPlane, but I wonder if someone could now make a Kaytushka (sp?)- that old truck that was covered in rockets that used to fire on German troops (they called it Stalin's Organ)- I heard you said ya wanted to try something new and different :P .

Another great job Pete! Making a blank texmap people can paint themselves is far better than them having to diddle so hard.

Just needs the 4 fuel tanks strapped on the side and the spare transmission box on the rear. The guy down the road at the Anapolis proving grounds museum relayed a story to me about how once the Russians were so pressured for tanks on the front, that they forgot to drop off the spare fuel tanks before going into battle. Not realizing this, the tank crews rushed to meet the German attackers. Not being fools, the Germans shot for the fuel tanks and ignited them, causing the tank to catch fire. To their amazement, the crews fought on and the tank wasn't destroyed. After he battle the crews were asked if their tanks being on fire bothered them, they responded by saying, 'What fire?' From then on the tank crews were no longer required to jetison the spare fuel tanks because if the fires didn't bother the tank crews, the fuel tanks didn't bother their command.

Pass me a tissue someone!!

Amazing Pete. Thanks a million! About the crashing... The Tiger used to do that too, maybe Archy can help me with it. It might have to do with the fact that a lot of the aircraft components haven't been assigned yet. I'm at school now, awaiting my execu- I mean english exam, so I'll check email a little later today.

I am truly awestruck.

Razer - That request isn't wierd at all. Once the T-34 is ready to be released as a beta, I'll post the texture map files separately (Pete, did you send them to me separately?). I'd prefer the tex. map not be released before then, if that's alright.

Also, I've found a really good site with authentic T34 schemes, so when the first beta is posted, I'll post the url too.

Razer - Would you please post that T34 profile pic in your 'progress image of the week' section of the hangar? (I'm speaking to the right Razer, right?)

Werner, I sent you the the same file back that you sent me, only as a Tif. But yes, you have the obj file, the sm file, and the tif.

Razer, I'd send it to you but I built it for Werner and I see it as his, so he calls the shots on it. If he wants to send it to you he will. (Send it to him Werner, he wants to paint it! I don't see any harm in that)

Great work guys. All we need now are a Ju-87 and Hs-129 to blow up (or try to) that nice tank.

Pete, you're right. I guess I was having a greedy moment. (sorry Razer!) Before I email it to Razer, i have one question for Pete- where on that tif is the texture for the barrel? Since that is just a 2D representation of a hexagonal prism, will it work ok or look like the top of the Fw190's nose? I just thought I'd ask before we learn the hard way the tank's mapping needs some tweaking.

Again, sorry Razer. I would be thrilled if you would paint the T34!

The barrel on my version of it came out tiny, so I ended up using the barrel off the Tiger Tank. Let me know if you get it working in the game, and if you do, send me the sm file and I'll export the parts and remap the barrel for you. But I'm not gonna waste my time with the parts I have now, since the sm is useless.

Sorry it took so long, The Tank is posted as the Progress image of the Week. Not having a puter at home, it's hard to update the site.

Pete - I hear ya. I'll get to work on that sm file.

Razer - As soon as I get the T34 working (even as a ground object) I'll send you the tif. Thanks for posting the T34 pic!
