Ok, Due to all the fixes i've done, theres no way to have a patch, So you have to download the whole pack again. i did remove 3.6 megs of stuff that shouldn't have been in the pack in the first place. New Readme is below

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Update.

The FW190-A8 and the BF109-K4 are both working now.

Removed some gun sounds that found thier way into the Beta7.

Pack is slightly smaller

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Just a reminder, i have seen a few new guys playing with the pack.

ALL 109's and the 190 A-8 and 190 D-9 all have movable Cockpits

add the following lines to your Keyboard.inp file located in your Fighter Squadron DIR.

cmdCanopyToggle = Q
cmdCanopyOpen = Alt Q
cmdCanopyClose = Control Q

then the following keys will open and close the canopy of your plane. We are working to get this added to all fighters, but will take some time.

http://members.xoom.com/hangarftp/

planepack can be found at the location above.

for time reasons i only have one large self-extracting ZIP and to small zips.

Enjoy!

Oh by the way, i was reading a post in the other beta7 post, and installing the files to you fighter Squadron/media folder is WAY WRONG!

Install everything to you Fighter Squadron folder.

I.E.

C:\Fighter Squadron\

Or

C:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron\

The Media DIR is in the zip or EXE. if you installed it wrong, you'll have a media folder in your media folder

G'day Razor,

Thought my ears were burning.....The only way I could get the Beta 7 to install correctly was to direct it to the media folder.

See how it goes with 8....Catch-ya

Razer,

The instruments for the Fw190A-8 and D-9 are missing from the original beta - there are in ...media/aircraft/cockpit/germ/textures. Without them the new Fws look pretty crap. Is that fixed in the new beta?

One of the instrument texture in the G-6 is not the latest - not sure how this happened but I will send this to you.

Have you changed the key associations for the cockpits? MPosis and myself have always used 'U'

Finally MPosis and I have added an oxygen mask to the fighter pilots model. If anyone is interested this could go in the final 5.3 release.

... Yard,

Actually ... It's "media/aircraft/cockpit/GERMANY/textures" ... not "media/aircraft/cockpit/germ/textures"

... You had me going nots trying to figure out why I had no gunsights!

I also sent them the "masked" German pilot ... so it's in there!

Zur,

That's odd I have it in 'germ' not 'german' and the textures have displayed from day one (I've just double checked). Oh well

I have also done an allied pilot, I will send it to you.

Are you going to get the time to work on the A-8 FM before it goes final? I've been flying the K-4 and it's lots of fun - a right little rocket ship.

More dumb questions...

Ok I did another download and this time got the ZIP. I moved the files (par and ppf)into Media by hand. Now when I start up, sure enough, there's the new planes!

But I can't seem to fly them. The A8 works well enough (and congrats on that superb cockpit!) but none of the others seem to do much. The Go can't be flown in training for instance, and the K4 crashes me out to the desktop.

Did I install incorrectly?

Maury,

About the K4 crash, may be the startup.ppf file is incomplete.
In Beta 7 I needed to edit startup.ppf and put these lines to have my Bf-109s working:
"aircraft/airfoils/NACA109G.ppf"
"aircraft/airfoils/NACA109G.sm"
Could Someone explain us about this?

Thanks.

Wasn't going to,,,but I did

beta 7...using clean install, only ac were the 5.3; all ok until the 109's - locked my computer. Got beta 8; all seem to be loading ok, and I pretty much feel good about them all so far except the mossie - for some reason, cannot trim it. It's up, then down, then left, then right...won't respond to trim controls. Speed, etc., don't seem to make a difference.

Keeping in mind I have only tested these in the training missions, and no bombers other than the Mossie, I think the Spits seem ok, and the Typhoon is not nearly as squirrelly for me. The Mustang I still cannot control on takeoff...once the tail raises, off she goes any old which way...mostly left, hehe..but airborne, something is different. Seems heavier, yet faster and more responsive, less prone to what I call 'rudder spins'. Obviously, I am no tech, and my testing so far is limited....oh..the 229 was flyable for me in training, but not over 480 unless nose diving. Which you can get it to do very easily Pulls hard right on climbing, too...left rudder straightens it ok.

Dunno if any of this helps...hope so. I want to test more, natch!

Thanks to all who put their efforts into it!!!

Yard,

I know the images aren't showing up. zur send me the planes all in one large zip. Well i had to put the K4 and A8 in another par file to work, so it'shard to pull every image from the one zip. if you want to issue a patch that contains all the cockpit images, go right ahead. i'll grab it and put it in the planepack for the next release.

As for the planes crashing, i have no idea. I have a fresh install on my work puter and every plane in the game works fine. The startup.ppf file in Beta8 is the most current one we have, it includes all current planes and includes the airfoils for SV' WW1 plane.

i guess you could have problems if you run D3D or software, but i'm not sure. I know Woodpanel does cockpits so they don't work in software mode, since the things he makes would like crap in software.

This planepack has the media folder included in the zips. So you'll need to unzip it in your Fighter Squadron folder.

Only to more releases till the final 5.3, so don't look for a new one till next weekend at the earliest.

Download this file and unzip it in your Fighter Squadron Folder. Do NOT unzip it in your media folder.

This will fix the gunsight and textures in the german cockpits. At least i think it will.

Enjoy!

Thanks for doing that Razer,

As far as I am aware the only cockpits effected by missing textures are the Fw190A-8 and D-9. The missing files are the new instrument textures. The only change we made to the gunsight was to move it forward to it's correct position.

Heres another update. Seems one of the G6 textures was wrong and a new pilot for the allied planes, seems this new pilot have an oxygen mask now.

Unzip to your Fighter Squadron like always. (not your media folder)

Yardstick,

RE: textures ... and Germ/Germany folder ...

The reason I figured this out was cuz all the 109s but the e4 reference the gunsight3.sm in this folder (for some reason the e4 has it in it's root directory)

RE: the FMs ...

Yes, based on any feed-back along with my personal changes ... they "WILL" all have final FM updates.
