I have got Japan as a new nation in my SDOE for ages now. Lector made it for me back in June. I'm surprised noone knew this before. I have never tried the new zero, but you ain't gonna tell me it's in the german planes directory is it?------------------ Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Flying Poodle ! IP: Logged |

Poodle-When I mentioned something about this to Lector- he said nothing about this. We are very excited about getting a Japanese nation out considering all the Pacific planes coming out- and yes- we have the Japanese planes in the German folder. I have, however, made up 4 new Japanese squadrons that show up in the squadrons page and in the mission editor as Japanese squadrons (so instead of using Legion Condor as a bombing squadron- I have the Kaga or Akagi Air Group) But they are in the German folder- and the Japanese pilots call out in German Could you perhaps share this new Japanese nation with us- or at least tell us how to do it...please?!! I'm not really sure how Lector did it back then. He send me a few files after I requested him to add Japan for me 10 minutes earlier for my "Javasea battle" project. He also made a Japanese squad (Kokutai Tainan) for me. The Javasea project kind of stranded, and I'm not sure what he sended me, but I'll check on any differences in my sdoe folder. I recall him adding Japan to the StringTable, changing the GUI folder (adding Japan everywhere, and giving Japan also ribbons and medals (we just used the german ones)) and added to the squadrons folder. There is a small problem though. Instead of Japan, you see strJapan everywhere in the game (str standing for StringTable). But when I added DoverNight I also noticed not to add str before the name in the missioneditor ppf file. Lector added str in front of Japan in all the changed ppf files. So that explains all the strJapan things. For the rest it works ok. You can make strJapanese planes and become a strJapanese pilot. =) I have had trouble contacting Lector recently. I'll try to contact him again. He really is the expert on how to add squads, nations, and all kinds of other stuff.I'll keep you guys informed about this. ------------------ Is it a bird? I have now changed it so it will say "Japan" instead of "strJapan". But now whenever I select Japan in the Pilot page it crashes.I checked the StringTable and nothing is changed. I now remember Lector telling me to remove the new StringTable he send me and replacing it with a default one which I had saved (as StringTable2). But maybe we do need to change the StringTable. I'll just check on it. But what I need to know now is how you say Japan in: German (Japan?) French (Japon?) Italian (Ghapon?) This also makes me thinking. All SDOE versions (English, German, French and Italian) are the same, cause the english version has all the data a german one would need. But where does it say you are using an English version? Cause if you could change that, I could make mine a german version. And thus I could even add Dutch to the StringTable and make mine a new one-of-a-kind Dutch version (no Rhineland anymore, just Rijnland, and the heck with Africa, I want Afrika) =) I agree, it isn't really worth the effort, but it would be just fun to try out. Also, if I would add Japan, what other nations are we needing? Russia? Italy? I think Russia would be a good 2nd to add. How was Russia called during WW2? Just Russia, or was it the USSR already? And how do you say it in: German French Italian I'll keep you posted. ------------------ Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Flying Poodle ! IP: Logged |

Poodle,I'm sure historians and communists would insist on calling it the 'soviet union', but I unless there is a public outcry, 'russia' may just be easier. Thanks for helping out!
