Final Update? What the hell does that mean?

Well, it simply means that the next post about the Planepack will be the Beta release to help iron out the final bugs.

I've set a deadline on all the new stuff coming in. The Beta Release of 5.3 should be out Friday night, or Saturday morning.

So much will be in this one you'll just have to read the Readme's to see all the cool things. I have removed one of the ground objects. Pete's 109 doesn't really need to be in there since we have like 4 flying 109's now.

I've also removed the Akagi Carrier and replaced it with the new version that has better mapping and guns. We are working on the damage model so one bomb wont sink it. But the carrier with the fixed DM might not make it in the pack. Time will tell.

I'm sure missions will need to be fixed to use the new carrier.

Texture mapping fixes on the planes will not be included since they will need to be updated to the new FM's. Which may take some time.

That's really all I can think of off the top of my head. Oh yea, the pack will be in two formats.

2 Zip files.

1 - 10 Meg file.
And
1 - 2 Meg file.

The second version will be 4 to 5 ACE files.

All you'll need to do it double click the EXE file to extract.

If the plain non-exe ACE version is needed, then you'll need WinACE, which a link will be provided before downloading.

I'm trying to make this pleasant for all connections.

Enjoy!

Well I must say that I am more than a little disappointed that the revised mapping will not be in the Planepack, particularly as I offered to help on two separate occasions well before Christmas. At the very least you could send me the Fw109A file and I will update the FM so that it can make the final release.

Yard, it was my understanding that Mposis was updating the 3D model to fix the maping thing and make it look better. This was the reason for not sending the 190 to you. The other reason for not asking you to help with the mapping fixes was that the planes i looked over didn't have any fixes. thats why we left them out. when we release the non-beta pack, I want to start a group to fix all the mapping. I'm sorry about the miscomm. And would like to ask if you would want to join the group to fix the mapping..

I would like to double check that there are no changes to the files you have. The one example that I have seen, the Ju88A-4, was fixed (the back-to-front swastica on the right side of the tail had been corrected).

We have only worked on our own user created planes i.e. the Fw190D-9 and Fw190A-8, but not the shipped A-4.

I would be very happy to participate in the group in the capacity of 'artistic adviser' as I am not up to speed on the actual mapping. One thing I would like to stress is that the re-mapped textures should only fix what was originally incorrectly mapped. I do not think we can justify any significant alterations to the original aircraft now that so many people have worked on their own paint schemes.

Is MH's damage patch included in this pack? If not, WHERE THE BUGGERING HELL IS IT???
I've just installed a new 22" monitor, and SDoE looks incredible at 1600x1200!
Now I want to shoot-down some hi-res Ponies online.

How are you getting SDOE to run at anything higher then 800x600? I have a big monitor too and would like to run at least 1024 but the screen moves over and I cant see half of it. I assume this is being done with a beta patch from MH? If not pleeeeeease tell me how to do this.......

Don't you have screen-positioning controls on your monitor? There should be a couple of buttons where you can bring up a menu on-screen that allows you to change the vertical&horizontol sizes and positions, amongst a load of other stuff.

My 22" is an Iiyama, so's the 17" that I've now transferred to my second system. That system's 17" OEM is on the floor now. It did the job, but with a .28 dot pitch and a tube like a goldfish bowl I can't say it brought me any joy. In fact, the only person who might want it is someone who currently has a 14" item.
I just had a good look at it, it doesn't even have a brand name on it..very generic.
Can I boast about my twenty-two incher now? Pant pant...it's very big and it's got a .25 dot pitch Diamondtron flat-screen with a max resolution of 2048x1536 at 85Hz. "Uh uh uh!!!" Tissue please! Lol.
