I think it is probably in one of the .sm files- but I don't know which one! I have someone interested in damage modeling it but can't find it to give to him- so if anyone knows where I can get a copy, I'd be much obliged...or Pete Hawk- I know you originally made it- do you have a copy of the .sm lying around? Thanks in advance.IP: Logged |

I just emailed it to you. The sm says bigcarrier.sm but it's the Saratoga. Now that I'm proficient at modeling much more than before, I'll size it up better and remap it very very soon. I'm about to be off work for a month and will have time. [This message has been edited by Pete Hawk (edited 01-20-2000).] IP: Logged |

Thanks Pete-- I agree the mapping on the Saratoga2 is better...but it has all those jets on it... I was actually looking for the original so we could work on making it damageable in a Midway mission- the old one is practically invulnerable. I think TS found the old one and will work on it from there. Is it ossible to take the newer Saratoga and remap it with Wildcats or Dauntlesses or something like that?IP: Logged |

Umm Pete- you know that last post where I said something without knowing what the hell I was talking about- can we forget that one?!! I just opened up the new Saratoga and it is beautiful!! I love the new lines on the deck and the overall look of the whole thing!!! It is sweet! Now- what exactly is the smoke coming from? Is that like a windsock where it shows wind direction? I know little about carriers as of yet- so excuse my ignorance!! Is the damage modelling on this one different? I ask because Tailslide is working on the Akagi and if this one is still indestructable- I would like to send it on to him. Granted- it may be accurate- but since we can't really model 4-5 planes diving on one carrier (without negative frmaerates at least ) maybe we can get it to the level where the Zeros have a chance of sinking it.IP: Logged |

It would be my experience that the Saratoga original takes 500 lbs. of well placed tnt to destroy.Like yourself,I think the Carrier Battle is where SDoE has the single biggest Area to really shine. Given the "make a game online" concept, all we need is a way to create a game with LIMITED spare aircraft that we can regenerate into or sink where they lay on the Carrier Deck. It works offline (one can loose an aircraft and hop into anotherand take off)giving the game A TON of playable Stategy,if we could only figure out how to enable it Online?Rattler

Jeeves, that was a very "half-ass" texture I did in only like 5 minutes. If you want to make a really nice one out of it feel free to use that as a template. I just wanted a quick fix to see how it'd look in the game.Glad you like it though IP: Logged |

Heya Pete-Have you been able to place planes on the new Saratoga (oh that's right- you said it isn't solid top yet, right? I remembered that as I was writing!) Would that cause a crash to desktp if I try to start a plane on the top? If so- I hope someone here helps you get it fixed! Is the new texture based on the old Saratoga or the nuclear-powered version? Thanks again, Pete- and if you do get it fixed- could you shoot me an e-mail with the new version again- I'd like to put it in the Midway campaign I'm making. Thanks!!- I promise you a ention in the read-me Rattler- I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to bomb her now [This message has been edited by Jeeves (edited 01-21-2000).] IP: Logged |

Lest we forget, the original Saratoga.sm file is located at the bottom of the BikiniIsland.sm, in the harbor.IP: Logged |
