I have a little website going for about a year and a half now. It's aimed at general combat flight simming, not any one sim in particular. Anyways since SDOE came out and I got hooked, I've been posting all the cool things that have been happening as news items on my site. I've had about 110,000 hits since SDOE came out, most of these are not from SDOE flyers. I must be a good salesman since people are always asking me "where can I buy that game?" "how do I get started making planes?" "why can't I find a game online?" Is there a single place I can send them that has simple instructions and all the links they need to - buy the game (it's getting hard to find!) - get started online - join the activelist - join OPP - find this forum - get started plane building I'm getting tired of explaining it over and over and I'm just stretched too thin to keep up another web page up to date about this stuff. If someone can keep a page like this up to date you have my grattitude and a big fat link on my front page.

Hey Tail- I had the idea of creating that type of site a while back but then fightersquadron.com was in the works so I didnt follow through. Shouldnt all the links be right on fs.com? It sure as hell makes sense to me The link below has Fighter Squadron for $12.90 and free shipping. Ronin bought several copies from them and didnt have any problem. All you get is a CD jewel case and no big manual (not that it is worth anything anyway). The game you get says it is only to be sold in Thailand but oh well- http://www.compuexpert.com/html/productinfo/fightersquadron.shtml ------------------

Tail, Some of the information you mention is available on the "Online Standard" page. I agree that it would be good to have this information on the FS site. It's not there now, because I just don't have the time to 1) gather it all together and create a web page. 2) keep it updated. Those are the biggest reasons the FS links link on the main site goes directly to the forum section for links. They change often enough that it's a big job to keep up to date. If we can find a volunteer to do so, I'll be happy to host it here. IP: Logged |

The page that's already on this site with the quick start is pretty good but doesn't include buying it, plane building, OPP, the activelist, the all in one server list, etc. It also needs some updating, the link for the plane pack is broken for example. Rattle, I've been to eastern countries and seen $10 software before.. it's not exactly legal, not that I have a big soft spot for Activision = ) I checked four online stores, the only other place I found it was Chips and Bits but it was $29 or so. Michael, I for one have sent you a few e-mails volunteering to do quite a bit of this. I don't have the time to dive into creating planes but I do have time to create web driven apps that could benifit the Fightersquadron site. I also have the bandwidth to host files as well as help host other peoples project sites and the like. Drop me an e-mail and we can talk.IP: Logged |

Tail-I dont think this is pirated software. It was software to be sold in Thailand (my guess). If you checked out their site - most titles cost what the average title costs. Its just SDOE is being sold for next to nothing. ------------------

Sounds strange to me that it didn't come with a manual or anything. It's a big business in hong kong, malaysia, singapore, china, thailand, etc. You can go down to the shopping malls and buy games or NT server or Photoshop on silkscreened silver discs complete with case liners but no manuals or box for about $10 a pop. Jewel cases are $.50 exra or so. I was really surprised and I couldn't tell some of the better ones from the originals. TS IP: Logged |

It was just 3 weeks ago I was looking for SDoE.My biggest problem was finding the game, and seeing screenshots of the game in action. Big ,color screenshots. I'm setting up my webspace to do just this. Screenshots of all the aircraft, cockpit shots included.Shots of the mission editor, all the terrains, all the add-on aircraft, all the aircraft in production, and ground objects. Including just a small, brief synopsis of my take on the current state of the game. Thats it, and I'll try to have it done by Monday(its 1/2 complete) I'll give the link in a few days.Hope this helps abit. Rattler IP: Logged |

Sounds to me like we're all workin along the same lines, I've been working on my site for a week or so now, and I've just moved it over to xoom, due to web space, I'm uploading everything I have, and anything else I can find so it can be downloaded from there (hope this isn't steppin on anyones toes!), but I'm gonna try and get as much into this thing as I can to try and centralise everything I come across about SDOE, when I started lookin for mods etc online they were so damn hard to find it was unreal!I'm not the greatest at web sites, but I reckon aslong as it gets on there to start with, and can be got at, thats as good a start as any.. It's still a lil work in progress, but here's the link: http://members.xoom.com/naturlich/ If any of you know how I can get that damn xoom counter without having to re register with them, give me a break and let me know will ya.. LOL But lets face it, the more we put up on the net that better, some of you guys really do have wicked sites ;-) Nat ------------------

The availability of Fighter Squadron has really dropped off. I haven't seen it in stores in months. As a matter of fact there are really no WWII sims around right now (except MS and one or two Jane's). I have even found EAW hard to find. A couple of copies of Nations turned up but not many.MH you're probably closest to the people at Activision. Is it still in print / overstock or have they written it off? Does Activision have exclusive distribution rights or performance requirements or did they buy it outright? Hey maybe it could be made available direct from this web-site (just a link to a distributor would work - preferrably a legit one)! Spin

Tail,Asa far as the Standards page being updated, I have been waiting for the new PP to come out. Actually it slipped my mind, as I was thinking this when the PP was supposed to be released some time ago. As soon as the new PP is out. I will update the page and add more links to some of the stuff you mentioned.

Hmm, Activision could at least take some time to update their SDOE site. It still talks about a beta release. ------------------ Zoycite {GS} GUNSLINGERS visit The War Paint Factory IP: Logged |
