I got SDOE and a Wingman Interceptor joystick for Xmas. I'm figuring out the game (actually found AND shot down a few enemy planes last night). I gan't figure out how to program the buttons and hat switches. I've tried several times creating a new profile, but I can't get SDOE to recognize it.

sure would be nice to be able to use the extra buttons & hat switches instead ot the keyboard.

Doesn't your joystick software take care of that? I guess I should ask what you mean when you say SDOE doesn't recognize it?

Theoretically, the Wingman Profiler software takes care of that. You set up a profile that maps each of the buttons or hat switch positions to a keystoke or set of keystrokes. Then, if you leave the profiler software active when you start the game in question, the joystick operates according to the profile.

In my case, when I start SDOE, only the trigger and one hatswitch do anything - none of the changes made in the profile I created work.

Ok, have you gone to their site and downloaded the latest drivers and any updated software packages? If not try that and see what kind of luck you have. If that doesn't work, call tech support. I know it sucks but thats about the only options left.

Make sure you're setting up your profile for the correct executable. If you're using the 1.51 Beta patch the executable name has changed to App.exe. If you're sticking with the official 1.5 patch, I think the name is still Demons.exe.

Becksteveo, Have you downloaded the latest logitech drivers? I have heard this problem repeated a lot lately. I suspect that the latest drivers 3.30 have a bug that will not activate the profiler automaticlly. I think that you can activate it manually.

Open the Profiler
Open "Select A Game" (choose Fighter Squadron)
Press the tab below "Select a game" to launch Fighter Squadron.

I hope this works for you.

I have the same joystick and here is the best way to work it for this game.

Go to the web page links that were installed under: programs/LogitechWingman/Wingman online

One of those pages, "wingman team" has User created Profiles. (profiler does not come with a profile for FS) There you will find a Profile for FS. I did use that profile and modified it until you wouldn't reconise it anymore. But the important thing is by downloading that profile it saves you having to program all the "this pattern of keystrokes mean eject" type stuff. Because they changed how you eject in patch 1.5 you may have to reprogram that one again

Hints on a good set up for that joystick? well the two buttons on the base above the throttle are up and down flaps for me. Since there are more hats then you can shake a stick at I use one for POV and the others for map, selecting target, changing the "radar cheat" map range. the most important to me though is the switch that moves right or left under the trigger. that is zoom in or out and works awesome for this game.

Enjoy your FS experance.

Thanks for the help! I downloaded the new Logitech profiler software and suddenly the profile I had created was recognized by SDOE. I'm still experimenting with what to program on whe buttons, but at least what I set up is regisnized.

Hopefully, once I figure out how to find and shoot down planes, all of this will mnake a difference

The profiler works, but I remapped the keys in the game itself (the "keyboard.inp" file). That way, I have 6 more megs of memory avaialble (since I'm not running the profiler...which was more of an issue before I had the new computer).

I can e-mail you my keyboard.inp file if you like...
