LOL! ... OK, it's not quite that hair raising. I noticed while working on the FM of the 109s (who only sport 88 imperial gallon tanks) .. that when TOO much fuel was issued, the AI would not raise gear. I figured (I actually weighed a gallon of milk) ... roughly 5-lbs. per gallon ... So for the 109 it's theroetical max in FS is 440-lbs. of fuel ... So if you AI is having difficulty raising gear ... check the fuel level. [This message has been edited by Zurawski (edited 12-28-1999).] IP: Logged |

Now that makes complete sense.....NOT! What does SDOE do....hang the fuel tanks from the wheels so the gear is too heavy? LOLIP: Logged |

Hmmm 109's that burn milk, now that might have kept the Germans in the air war a bit longer. I think it's closer to six pounds per gallon, if I recall from my A&P days. Pang IP: Logged |

Yup, I looked it up."Calculate the weight of oil at 7.5 pounds per gallon. Calculate fuel at 6 pounds (US) per gallon." However, if the octane level of 2% lowfat is greater than avgas, perhaps we should reconsider. (I can't help myself) Pang IP: Logged |

I vaguely remember somebody saying that if the AI didn't get the aircraft into the air before the end of the runway it wouldn't raise the gear. Overloading it with fuel would make that more likely to happen.Just a hazy guess. IP: Logged |

Jerry, ALOT of this stuff happens when you mess around with OP.... You could be working on the fuselage of an airplane and all of a sudden the flaps won't respond, or change something on the rudders and the gear stops working......... but it's FUN!!! we are having a good time!.. IT'S FUN!!!...we're havin' a GOOD TIME.......fun.......good time........fun.......good time..................IP: Logged |

7.2 lbs per Imperial gallon for 100 octane. This and the conversion rate for imperial <-> US gallons are in the FM FAQ. It's really easy to get tripped up on the US and imperial gallons thing. TS
