Spanky here... Hi guys if you may have noticed the last 2 nights I havn't been online flying or posting much or even on icq. Thats all Gran Turismo 2's fault. IT KICKS HUGE ASS. I still think that V rally 2 has better graphics by far but all the diffrent racing cups and cars and tracks are freaking great. Anyway back to the track and see ya online soon. I will be back. I got it too, last night. It may be too early to really tell, but I think I like the graphics in GT1 better! The opening movies looked SOOOOO good that I was hoping the game play was similar. It looks, uh, not up to what I was expecting. The car selection is very good though. It's nice there are muscle cars, Mini's, and all the rest though. Plus they still have my 1991 Honda CRX Si I'm gonna play it more today and hopefully get into it. IP: Logged |

Spanky here... Yeah the graphics arn't so hot. Its not GT2 in my mind its GT extra. If you want a new racing game on the sony with great graphics and an AMAZING sence of speed get Need for speed V rally 2. Read my reveiw in off topic on it.

Whew - thinking of all the time I spent just getting the licenses in GT makes me think I'll wait until people start posting pre-earned licenses I can load with my Dexter. Most realistic 'flight model' ever in that game, but I just can't spare the time to earn everything again. I tried running it with Bleem! but there's no substitute for Sony's FFX controller. Spanky here...roadtoad If you still have your save game from GT1 you can transfer your licences to this one. Theres a couple more in this one thought so you will still have to work for some. One good thing is the licences in this one are easier to get. Do you mean the dual shock controller? or some after market one? I think the dual shock controler is the best controller on this planet bar none! If sony would make it for the computer they would wipe the floor with all the shit computer gaming pads we get handed for crazy prices. About interstate 82 i heard it was crap. I'll have to check it out though and you can't compare the 2 games the only thing the same about them is they both use cars. interstate 82 is a car combat game. GT2 is a car racing simulation.

Well Spanky, I guess I'm hooked! I picked up a GameShark CDX thingy last night at Walmart for $40.00 and it has made it pretty fun. You can go to www.gameshark.com and also www.granturismo.com and get all sorts of codes. I like the $99,999,999 one a lot as well as the stop timer code. I got all the liscenses today and have just been enjoying the game. I really really like the 1969 Corvette Stingray (Racing version) and driving it around both short and long Seattle courses. To me that's the cats meow of this game. Seattle's a blast! Nothing like the feeling you get from hauling butt around city streets. IP: Logged |

Spanky here... Yeah colin mcrea was great on the computer. but unfortunatly it was never released in north amarica. I would love to get a wheel but actually i love the dual shock and think its good enought for the psx. I need a wheel for my computer worse since there is no dual shock for it. Pete While I'm not into cheating I guess if that gets you into the game then thats cool. I actually don't like the way some of the races let you in with cars that shouldn't be allowed. I raced in the classic musclecar class with a crazy modern racing car. I actually think that this game is a half assed job but its still fun so i play it.

Spanky,My interests in games are such that I like to get deep into a new game fast to see if I like all it has to offer. Just scratching the surface in a night or two doesn't cut it for me. I like to see what the really fast cars I like in racing games as soon as I can, and if I like it I'll be playing it a lot in the future. Now GT2 will be competeing for my time along with SCGT. The thing about SCGT on the PC is that I LOVE using my Logitech Wingman FF wheel/pedals with it. The game is such a blast. But for the shear number of cars to drive you can't beat GT2. IP: Logged |

Spanky ..big roger on the dual-shock! I tried the psx wheel setup, but it's too small and the pedals too flimsy to ever get it feeling right; whereas you can actually 'feel' the difference of small changes in camber, etc.. - which brings me to, Pete - total agreement on your philosophy on jumping right in - seems like tedious puzzles suits good employee personalities more than good leaders .. but here's a GT tip - buy a stock lightweight like the miata and earn the money for your mods in the cheap races - you'll not only be surprised how you can really feel the diff something like a carbon driveshaft makes, you'll really learn what small changes in camber, brake balance, etc can do. Gearing changes are best left to last. No that you're sharked, there's hybrids you can make, and websites where the technique is explained; and if you get a DexDrive, you can not only share races and cars, but download whole garages of outrageously fast hacks - 350mph around the high-speed ring is a hoot. I don't know if Kanji's forum is still up, but it was the place for GT.I think i82 flat sucks - it's not a sequel to i76 (which was cool in '97), but a pc port of the psx Vigilante 8 - a simple twitcher with a tedious 'trip' thrown in, not a simulation - the 'darkside' gfx are just that - and all the reviews so far agree with me. It's a $15 game selling for $50 - wait a few months and it'll be priced right.

Hey! Vigilante 8 is cool, for an arcade car-combat PSX game. Where else can you drive a Pinto with a flare-shooting, "disco ball of death" on the back? IP: Logged |
