Spanky here... Hi guys, Just posting to let new flyers know about the icq active list for sdoe. its like adding 140 SDOE fans to your icq except you can disconect to get away from them LOL. If you fly online or build stuff or just want to be able to chat with all your sdoe buddies join. its great for trading info and setting up online games. goto www.thot.net/~verge/sdoe.htm for more info its an extra tab on your icq list with just SDOE people on it. Not many games have one but this one does, I don't think EAW, WW2 Fighters or falcon 4 have it.

Spanky - How ya doing?? I thought I should toss this in here in the interest of fair play and justice, regarding the ICQ thing. You have done a lot of promo for the Active list, and it is a good thing....when it works. But just in case anyone wonders....:>)I was one of the first to get involved in this....think there were only 9 or 10 when I signed on...and for a while everything was great. One day a few weeks ago I tried to log on to ActiveList to check, and lo and behold....I was denied access! By whom? It didn't say. Why? ' Not Authorized to Join Active List Chat'. For what reason? Unknown. I tried again for a couple days, thinking it was ICQ being their usual quirky selves, but no better. Tailslide tried to help out...I even removed the SDOE list and tried to rejoin...no luck. Can only figure that somehow the files must have become corrupt; only option would be to reinstall the entire program...but the rest works fine. Their tech support was no help either. So I got a little burned out on the ICQ thing; maybe when an update comes again. I just wanted that known, if anyone is considering getting this but thinking...Gee, it must not have any problems!...truth is, yes it does, and when it does, it can be a royal pain..:>) ------------------ nealg=FC= IP: Logged |

Spanky here... Hi man i don't know why your having probs but i would be willing to be its your computer thats causeing them. Also even if your having problems that doesn't mean anyone else with and even if they do it will just be one like your haveing, its not like it ruins your icq install. Why don't you just save your current list and reinstall icq and try again? Why is it a royal pain? Just cause your having problems? Has any other part of icq stopped working? Thanks alot for scarrying people out of trying it out. IP: Logged |

Hey, Spanky..no need to go off, man. Most of what you asked me is answered in my post, and I agree that it may have been something computer-related which caused the problem; sorta makes sense, don't it? Would have been nice to have the program tell you why it all of a sudden worked differently, though, instead of making it look like the people in the list just arbitrarily kicked you out with no explanation. I do not jump to conclusions like that, though, and tried to find out what I did wrong. Some folks might jump to that conclusion, however, and go around bad mouthing the SDOE Active List community....but if they saw this, and experienced the same problem, they'd know it was a glitch...and not go off somewhere and start saying 'those SDOE guys, blah blah blah'; see? Soooo...Not my purpose to 'scare ' anyone off - I do apologize if it seemed that way. I'm just one of those 'strange' individuals who believe that potential users of any product need to know in advance if anyone else has had problems with the product, and what the fixes were if any were found. Even if the product was free. I will add this....I found it to be an excellent tool for use in finding others for online games in SDOE and if I can get it running again, I will use it again. Is that better?? No, my name isn't currently listed...that was one of the things we tried to see if I could get it working again. It didn't help, unfortunately. Eventually I will get it fixed, and if you hear of anything that might provide a clue as to what caused it, let me know...I'd appreciate it. Sorry for the long post...originally hadn't thought it would be necessary..
