could it be of some interest for someone equipped with a voodoo 2 card and a 233 mhz AMD cpu? probably the slowest machine of the community.STef ------------------ STef_EAF329 http://stephan.bondier.free.fr/gazette.html ICQ 52072208 IP: Logged |

I did the upgrade ...Previously ... everytime I needed to use my joystick under 7.0 ... I HAD to go into properties and "re-calibrate" the stick in order for Windows to recognize I HAD a joystick (this was very annoying) ... ...Upgrade to 7a fixed it ... thankfully. IP: Logged |

well so far, DX7a is been really bad for me. after installing DX7a, i can't run Interstate 82 anymore. before i was getting an error saying my joystick could not be found. But, it still worked. Now it can't bind the keys to my stick and nothing works.and i'm a little pissed off. i know it's I82 and not DX7a. but it still pisses me off. Razer

Well, im glad most folks have had good luck with 7a but unfortunately, it hosed my system quite severely. I had to use a program to uninstall DirectX and then had a hell of a time getting regular ver 7 to retake properly. Well thats the only ver of directX ive ever had probs with.Next time ill read the posts for a week or so before attempting an overwrite. IP: Logged |

I installed DirectX7 and it totally wrecked my rig in so far as I had to format my hardrive and reinstall DirectX6. Speaking to others I have discovered that I am not an isolated case. Treat Microsoft updates with caution!IP: Logged |

Hmmmm..... Please describe your problems with DX7. I've had a devil of a time getting my machine to work right ever since I put in DX7. I tried to uninstall and go with DX6. But now its all screwed up. If I do any 3d or video, my machine locks up.IP: Logged |

Very interesting comments. I installed 7, not 7a, but the smoke in FS looks sooo much better now.I've had persistent lockups on my video card for some time now, and I'm not sure where this is coming from, but dx7 didn't do plus or minus in this category. Pang IP: Logged |
