I have the 3d Prophet geForce-256 video card and I think I actually get better fps with my dual Monster 3D II cards in SLI in Glide over my AGP card. Fighter Squadron isn't optimized to take advantage of the added capability of the new geForce nVidia cards. The newer simulations in the next few years should allow this card to excel.------------------

I'm sure the geForce would be better at higher resolutions, especially if you have DirectX7.(The best of these cards out there at the moment is the Asus6440). I highly recommend the Hercules TNT2 Ultra card (http://www.hercules.com), if you want to get a TNT instead.IP: Logged |

I'm think of buying an RDRam version of the GForce for B17-II. However as I'm primarily into flight sims I'm also toying with the idea of getting a Voodoo 3 3000 PCI and running it as a secondary card for legacy Glide support. Anyone tried to run a V3 as a secondary card? I believe it's possible. ------------------ Yardstick painted this

I ran my VoodooII card with my Asus TNT card - no problem switching between them. Later I ran the Voodoo along side my Elsa Erazor III TNT2 card. No problems. Still VoodooII is faster than TNT2 for SDOE.I had to remove my Voodoo card to et AC3D to work - so now I only have the Erazor TNT2 card - and I only get like 20 - 30 FPS in SDOE That is why I was thinking of the GeForce - but I am not sure if the GeForce will speed up my FPS any... -Sv IP: Logged |

I am not 100% sure, but it seems that waht confused AC3D was the fact that I had two 3D cards. If you have a non-3D primary card and a secondary Voodoo card things should be fine. Also note that I am the only one who has ever had problems with getting AC3D to work. This held me back from getting into OpenPlane for about three months Also I still need to do this to use AC3D: 1. Open the share-ware version of AC3D. 2. Open my registered version of AC3D. 3. Close the share-ware version. 4. Close the registered version. 5. Open the registered version. If I try to start with the registered version it crashes on start up. Also if I do not close and re-open the registered version, one of the isometric work windows never re-freshes; I always see the desktop though that window. Don't be scared though - I am the only person who has ever had this trouble. I do have an E-mail in with Andy, but his wife just had a baby, so he's been to busy to respond. -Sv IP: Logged |

Did you try temporarily disabling the V2 card either in 'hardware properties' or disabling D3D support in the cards control panel?IP: Logged |

I'm holding off upgrading from TNT 2 Ultra since games need to support the new features in DX7 to really get an improvement. The money's better spent on a faster CPU, I'm eyeing the Athlon 600's I bet they'll make SDOE scream but require a mobo change. TS ------------------ ________________________ TS Aircombat

Spanky here... Yep i'm thinking of buy a new board and the athlon 500 and probly a case since i only have a 200 watt power supplie and they like there juice. I figure this vid card isn't holding me back its the cpu. I have a banshee and I hit 50-60 with everything jacked except clouds, and res at 800x600, and the fog at 5, things only get nasty when theres alot of planes in front of me or i'm online. I have seen it hit 100 plus. tail why the 600? a 500 here is $337 and the 600 is $664. I figure get the 500 make sure its got a good sink and fan and OC that bitch. that kind of money is just too much for 100mhz

Heheh Tailslide!I just got my Athlon 600 in the mail today! I am using an Asus over-clockable mother board - I will over-clock my Athlon to 650. I paid $400 for the Athlon 600... I did also get PC133 memory for it - that is recommended for the Athlon/Asus combo. I will report my SDOE FPS soon ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE! IP: Logged |

Spanky here Yeah i'm thinking of buying more ram for this puppy and its definatly going to be pc133 just for when i upgrade the chip and cpu. I couldn't see why anyone would buy pc 100 anymore even if your present system doesn't take advantage of it. IP: Logged |
