i was up front on the lanc trying to find dresden when my co pilot alerted me to a red glow shoot from left to right fearing a jolly rogering from a 109 we made a starboard tilt 30 deg all stations remained quite and nothing more happened until the approach to blighty when this red flash appeared again this time hitting the port side cockpit glass and landing on my lap after consultations with the crew we established a positive i d it was a cigarette but.
