MH,Seeing as you haven't given a definitive date on the completion of your final, non-beta patch in past enquireys. Is there any chance you could give an ETA on it? Next week? Next month? 6 months? Year 2002? or will it always be beta and never completed? Or is the idea of a final working patch shelved, or is it to difficult to complete? A straight answer to a straight question(s) please, as I like to fly sims not fiddle with code. Thanks in anticipation of your responce. Hengist. It has already been posted as far as I remember(very clearly) that the final activision funded patch has been and come. All patches from now will be beta and done on MH's own time.Further patches may come out as a parallel to the new sim.I hope this answers your question....IP: Logged |

I think Hengist knows that Graymon, he means the beta patch we're all waiting anxiously for that fixes the desktop bug and other issues. cheers

Yes - I'm sure Hengist is refering to the patch (beta version 5 or whatever) where the additional program tracking software has removed. This is the patch that when coupled with the current PlanePack will become the next on-line standard. This would be the one where you could change the time of day to run missions like Night Dover.------------------

This is what we are all waiting for. I firmly believe that as we continue to sell the virtues of SDOE to 'non-believers' we need the enhancements to convince them that this sim really is unrecognisable from the rough diamond that was released earlier in the year. Additionally the on-line game is seriously in need of a shot in the arm to get it going again (particularly here in Europe where the only way you get a game is to pre-arrange it with a few mates). I am convinced that the new planepack coupled with the enhancements that the patch would bring will help persuade many of the waverers and newbies alike.------------------ Yardstick painted this

Hengist, There will probably never be a final patch as long as: 1) People are still interested in and are still playing FS. 2) I have the ability (mentally and legally) to provide new updates. No one patch is going to fix everything and I still plan on rolling as many features from our current projects back into FS as long as it makes sense. Having said that, my goal is to get the CTD, network damage and fire rate fixes out by the end of the year.

Spanky here... Great news MH, I can't wait those are my biggest concerns with online play. How is the opensource stuff going? (I keep forgeting the actual term) I think this and the contest is going to bring all kinds of people to play this game. ------------------ -Seperated and independant halves of a genius super-organism who believe that no game will ever satisfy them completely.

Thanks MH for your reply,Good news about the multi being fixed, but what I was really interested in was a definitive FM patch so I don't have to use FM 5.1, 5.2, 5.9, 6.1 or whatever it's currently called that's doing the rounds at the moment. This is mainly because I'm not interested in the user add ons that come with these, e.g. Funky trucks, Dolphins, Seagulls, etc... err well that is apart from that Spit IX instead of the out matched MkII. I'd still settle for the standard set of planes with those ultra realistic flight models as advertised on the box, but then again I know this is old ground that's been covered and gone round in circles many times before. So to finalise; the beta patches will always be beta patches and will never be a final definitive (unsuported) SDOE patch, is that right? Hengist. Hengist,Spit IX and all the PP5.x pack are the planes you are expecting to see. They are users made add-ons MH only work on engine, not really on planes and FM ------------------ STef_EAF329 http://stephan.bondier.free.fr/gazette.html ICQ 52072208 IP: Logged |

"So to finalise; the beta patches will always be beta patches and will never be a final definitive (unsuported) SDOE patch, is that right?"It depends on how you look at it. There will always be a patch in beta for as long as I'm adding/fixing things. Once the DTC, fire rate and damage bug is fixed, I will likely say that 1.5.1 is cooked and begin working on the changes for 1.5.2. IP: Logged |

MH, end of the year? Wow. That would make this one very merry Christmas indeed. I think it would be one of the best Christmas presents ever. Remember MH, you're basically dealing with a bunch of junkies here... Mk10=225th= IP: Logged |

Yes MH! I think that is what many of us are looking for - v1.5.1! Something we can upgrade to without the additional debug code in it and something everyone can accept as the next step for this simulation. I think we all realize that everything after v1.5 is really a beta (no Activision support) but coming from you it has a little more "official" status - plus it has been looked at within the code that OPP or others may not have access to.Looking forward to it - let's hope the three weeks doesn't turn into three months! ------------------
