The Gazette isn't keeping me busy enough at the moment, and there are too much thoughts bouncing all around my head, that will make me sick if don't share them with you... :p

I was wondering, why, with all the talented people we got in OPP, we wouldn't build our own sim? just to be sure it matches requirements, we players and customers, we want to see?

It seems that whatever happens, publishers and private developpers are unable to understand what we want. There are no particulars anger against Parsoft or MH (I'm a customer since first Mac A10-Attack release!). It's just that I have lost faith in their capacity to achieve - I won't use perfect, as perfection is a goal, not a state, and that regarding people opinions and tastes, there is always something that will not be appreciated - the #1 game.

My opinion on FS-SDOE should be known enough to avoid presenting it again.

The point of this thread - as there is a point to - would be to propose MH and whatever company holds right on OPP to license the source code, that would be paid on a 50% (for example) benefits made on distrition of a shareware game - the other 50% being used to encourage programmers and artists in participating. Suggested retail price: US$20/25.
OPP's code owner would also be allowed to use any modified part of code for commercial purpose. Some kind of GNU license.

My goal, is:
1) to preserve actual models made by our (heroes, gods, leaders, friends [select qualifier you prefer]) without too much hassle
2) to tweak that f*****g code to add everything that is missing and to handle things as we want them to
3) be sure to do not fall under Activision's intellectual copyrights
4) have the game running under Linux, Unix and MacOs too - we could benefit support of new programmers from those OS

It's particularly easy for me to propose such development as I'm not a programmer (if you exclude ability to write 'if' statements ) and mathematics weren't my prefered lessons.

Consider this very seriously and post structured replies to this thread.
