roadtoadYeah, it was the "lack" (hehe) of support by "LackaVision" for SDOE that got me forever pissed at them too.
Shortly after SDOE was released I went to E-3. LackaVision's booth took up a lot of real estate at the show, I think it was the biggest. I went to their booth hoping to meet and chat a bit with Michael Harrison, Eric Parker, and some of the other SDOE gang.
Although SDOE had just been released, there was no trace of the game at the LackaVision booth; in fact, no one there seemed to even acknowledge its existence.
So I went looking for my second objective, I-82. Not only did I realize something was very wrong about SDOE, I also realized something very wrong with I-82.
One side of their massive booth was devoted to "Vigilante 8" having a real full size bus, demos playing on a 1/2 dozen monitors, and lots of booth babes and actors in costumes running around promoting it.
On the other side of the isle was a huge arena full of Quake III monitors with hundreds of gamers trampling each other trying to get as close as they could.
Off in some forgotten corner was one monitor showing I-82 with no one around it. (I had to actually ask a booth babe if they were showing I-82 here). I tried playing it a little but was having trouble. Another booth babe came around and kept saying that the reason it looked so bad was that it was only in it's early development stage and that the finished product would look and work much better. (I fell for it too).
Anyway, my point is I agree.
Salut!
