Hey everyone!! Archy and I are now a team working on vehicles for Fighter Squadron, and as a part of my job, I've set up a Panzers for Fighter Squadron webpage. You can get the new vehicles here! The page is pretty bread-and-butter for now, but expect regular updates! http://members.xoom.com/fs_catp/Vehicles/panzers.htm ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Archy has rebuilt the Panzer VII (King Tiger) from the ground up, and it's now at the panzer site. Here's what he has to say about it:"By the way, in this latest version of the tiger you can blow off the turret, or tracks. All parts have their own damage model! if any Armor parts are destroyed, the tank blows up and all the pieces go flying hehe. Still need to work on fixes to the sinking parts effect." Great work Archy! Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Email Werner to be listed in SDOE's online phonebook today! IP: Logged |

I just tried it, and I haveto say that this tank is frekin amazong!!! you guys have got to try this! and the best part is: they have a very low impact on frame rate! check this out! 16 tanks and I still get above 20 frames per second!
Nice work guys! ------------------ Cheers! Jaguar www.fshangar.com [This message has been edited by Jaguar (edited 12-12-1999).] IP: Logged |

I hadn't tried that many Jag, cool. Theres a lot of work to be done, I think creating some damage lods/parts. And I have to redo the main lod of the tank so it isnt so hollow looking, and has its own inertia box and dm. Currently there are parts for: Front Armor Left side Armor Right side Armor Rear Armor Right track / and wheel, + rear steering attached here needs to be moved back to main body when we get it "non hollow" Left track /Wheel Turret mount Turret hidden wheels need to be moved inside the tracks. I need to learn more about Openplane, and find out out to make parts solid so they dont sink in surface IP: Logged |

Jaguar... Just to pump up the anticipation a little... Whether OP is capable of this or not yet I don't know, but here's my wish list for the vehicles we're working on, including the Tiger II. -High resolution skin -Instead of opening canopy, opening hatch with Tank commander that comes out -Realistic traverse and elevation speed -Engines placed front and back facing so that you can get into and out of hull down positions (or if you crash into a structure ) -One position to control instead of two, so a twist of the joystick turns the turret, front/back control elevation and left/right control tank direction -Interior 'cockpit' that includes basic (and relevant) dials, and a view port with a crosshairs that follows the main gun -North African versions that will have sand-coloured smoke coming off the back, so when flying at altitude vehicle convoys are realistically visible Are you excited yet? I sure am! Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Email Werner to be listed in SDOE's online phonebook today! IP: Logged |

Sure, you can do all of that. It IS possible right now.... I suggestion though, how about making the turret a separate pistion? that way you could drive and let the AI shoot, or be the gunner while the AI drives.------------------ Cheers! Jaguar www.fshangar.com IP: Logged |

Spanky here Looks and sounds great guys but i just can't get into it until we can go up slopes. I would love it if we could hook the engines to the wheels instead of a prop. well maybe someday when this sucker gets more people working on it through opensource. ------------------ -Seperated and independant halves of a genius super-organism who believe that no game will ever satisfy them completely.

Jaguar - actually the current setup is a separate driver/gunner position, but I don't like it because the AI can't control the driver (and, now at least, won't control the gunner) and its a hassle to switch from gunner to driver because the engine craps out and you have to restart it. The tank is being designed for online play, so the less idle switching, the better, in my opinion.Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? hmm, the newest version cant climb as well as the previous, with all the same prop and engine settings. The new one has an all new distribution of parts and physical properties. It's gonna take some more tinkering to get it back to climbing, yet not exceeding speed parameters.IP: Logged |

Why can't you get the AI to drive it? the AI can taxi a plane right? it should look at it as the same type of thing.......------------------ Cheers! Jaguar www.fshangar.com IP: Logged |

Jag - The Ai never could fly the old FunkyTruck properly. I think MH could explain it best, but my take on it was that the engine wasn't built to run ground objects, so the computer tries to 'fly' our vehicles.Werner P.S. hhhmmm.. if someone has a few extra minutes, take a fs aircraft, cut the power by 95%. then set it in a airfield with waypoints, and see if the plane tries to take off.........Well 1 down, 2 to go. Todays test was harder than I thought!!...which is harder 2024 Tempered Aluminum, or 2024 Solution Heat treated Aluminum... WHO THE HECK CARES!?!?!?! I'm fixing the darn things, not building them....... tomorrow's Heli test is worth 100% of my mark!! just 1 multi-guess test....... You wanna talk about pressure?! but then I just learned friday's test is OpenBook.... I mean open book so that won't be too bad. ------------------ Cheers!
