Heya Spyder-I hate to ask, because I am enjoying this application so much- but could you add the Dover Night theater to the mix? There are so many great night skins that people have done, and I have many night missions in my newest campaign- so that seems like that would be a good addition to the mix, n' est-pas? Also, if anyone can tell me- where do I get the Pacific theater? I would like to start a Pacific campaign and need that one obviously . Hey no problem Jeeves, I'll add that one too. Any other scheme names before I release it? One or two more should make it all we will need I would think. cheers------------------ IP: Logged |

Okay guys - I give - uncle! Where are the databases Pacific, Battle of Britain, and D-Day located for downloading? Or, are we just looking into the future? I usually keep pretty up to date reading topics on this forum. Also Spyder - I know that there isn't any runways in it but what about the Tundra database? Duh! Wait a minute - after posting this message I got to thinking that somewhere we have maybe mixed up "databases" with skin themes. Is this the case now? In other words, the Battle of Britain and D-Day selections use the Dover database but allow you to gain the correct skins for the specified time period. Is the light coming on correctly? Even if that is the case, the Tundra database could very easily be considered the Russian front. We do have a Yak skin for the Spit and a few German winter skins to boot.

Speedbrake: The util doesn't use any terrain in particular, that's up to you which skin you want to use for the current terrain(s).You place all your different plane scheme tifs in each folder then select what scheme you want to fly in for any mission. Selecting a theatre just copies what is in the theatre overwriting your \aircraft\planetype\textures with the skin. So flying a mission in Africa doesn't mean you have to be using African skins, you could be using the night scheme or any of the others. Basically it's just a way of separating 7 Lanc schemes for instance and then having the util replace your current texture before flying. You can alt tab to the desktop and have them copied over while selecting a plane with the host, makes it interesting to see a new set of plane skins each mission. The tundra database, is that Zoy's terrain? if so the Rhineland Winter option is for placing your yak and other suitable plane skins in. You needn't use the theatres as the names suggest neither, if you only like African schemes then use all 7 theatres to hold your African skins. cheers

Spyder - the Tundra database was a release from MH (Parsoft). It is on his site where you got the Fokker, Funkytruck, etc. http://www.openplane.org/ Have you never downloaded it? ------------------

That looks great spyder,One think I thought of was that you could make the list of "theaters" a combo box, or list box, and allow the user to add "theaters" at will. That would cater for the picky bunch around here that want there own theater of choice added IP: Logged |

Thanks for adding Dover Night, Spyder! As far as I know, Zoycite did Rhuneland Winter and MH did Tundra. Either way, I only have Rhineland Winter- and love flying over the river in it- it almost glistens as you're going over it. Thanks again for a great application, Spyder!!IP: Logged |

Yeah it's not finished as yet, Zoycite is trying to break it for me and I'm currently writing a proper windows help file for it. Use v1.0 to get you going for now, it works fine. Bryan, I was going to do something along that line but with eight 'theaters' (I picked up the spelling hint!) that should cater for all I would imagine. That's eight different skins for each plane available. I may add that option later if it becomes necessary with all the planes coming out.V1.1 should be ready by the weekend. cheers ------------------ IP: Logged |

It wasn't a spelling hint. If you looked closely at my spelling you would see that I'm in no position to criticise. In fact I even had to run this small paragraph through word so as to not embarrass myself. Bryan

"Theatre" is how it's spelled anywhere using English (as opposed to American) spellings so I would think it probably is an Aussie thing. It's "theatre" in Canada in any event.IP: Logged |

Yeah I found word keeps choosing US dictionary on startup even when I have selected Aus each time. The US dictionary lists theater but not the Aus one. The thesaurus shows: battlefield arena combat arena front lines etc etcNothing listed in the Aus one, so Theater it is.

If you spell it "Theatre" and this program captures the world as SDOE is doing, the world will convert to the Oz spelling. hehehe, we'll be so powerful we won't need to be a republic. Sorry Zippo, if we grab the world's attention with our spelling then the yanks will invade us with more than those crap tv shows! Yardstick is Theater used in the Uk for a war theater or not? I looked up the Macquarie dictionary and Theatre is the only word used for plays/cinema/surgical/war use with US spelling 'Theater' being the equivalent. Might have to change it all back again! Hmmm maybe I should drop the word altogether and use Scheme instead! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Spyder,From my Collins Concise (that's 1,391 pages of conciseness) English Dictionary: THEATRE 1. a building designed for the performance of plays, operas etc... 2. ...etc 3. ...etc 4. ...etc 5. ...etc 6. ...etc 7. ...etc 8. ...etc 9. a major area of military activity. Looks like Theatre for us Pommy and Aussie speakers of the Queen's English.

I'm pretty sure "Theatre" is the French spelling which the Brits adopted after William the Conqueror kicked Saxon butt and then you loaned to the Aussies. I know how much you Brits love the French so you can have it. Your "Queen's English" has a French accent. LOL IP: Logged |

Now for the other bastardized words of the english language (of course it's debatable who has them right), "re" vs "er" theater vs theatre center vs centre "our" vs "or" ie color, flavor
ize vs ise (by the way which is most common) We should standardise this one (standardize is the common Canadian way - but then we have a bit of local influence). The list seems to be long. Others anyone? IP: Logged |

Being a Yank - I have to submit my vote for theatre! After all, this is a WWII or WWI (to some ) simulation and not a whole lot of fighting was done on US soil. Theatre has a Brit (European) flavor!Just my $0.02 worth. But there is a point to be made about Spyder or Spydre!!! ------------------

So why is the "re" not consistant in that funny spelling language? A good example was brought up. Why Spyder and not Spydre? Why is Football played with that funny round thing? Football should be played with an oblong ball and with the use of hands And when is the rest of the world gonna realize that metric stuff just "ain't" gonna catch on
To be honest this is all in good fun and I'm glad that we have kept this post clean. I dont know about the rest of the world but even here in the US, there are just as many differnt ways to speak and write that I often think that some people might be from a different planet. On RW, do we Yanks really sound the same? I met a person from New Zealand and thought she was Austrailan, boy was she offended. But to me she spoke like Spydre. Spydre later told me that there is a differnce in the way they pronounce and use words. Actually I enjoy seeing and hearing our cultural differnces, it really adds flavor or is it flavour, hmm this is getting confusing. PS, Where can I find the rules for Austrailan Rules Football, its fun to watch, but I have no idea what the heck is going on.

Zoy - you think Aussie speak is strange - how about wein' Texans? We have a whole separate version of Winders!Notice from Microsoft: It has come to our attention that a few copies of the Texas Edition of Windows 98 may have accidentally been shipped outside of Texas. If you have one of the Texas Editions you may need some help understanding the commands. The Texas Edition may be recognized by looking at the opening screen. It reads WINDERS98 with a background picture of the Alamo superimposed on the Texas flag. It is shipped with a Leann Rimes screen saver. Also note the Recycle Bin is labeled Outhouse. My Computer is called This Infernal Contraption. Dialup Networking is called Good Ol Boys. Control Panel is known as the Dashboard. Hard Drive is referred to as Wheel Drive. Floppies are Them Little Ol' Plastic Disc Thangs. Other features: Instead of an Error Message you get a Winder covered with a garbage bag and duct tape. Terminology: OK = ats aww-right. Cancel = hail no. Reset = aw shoot. Yes = shore. No = Naaaa. Find = hunt-fer it. Go to = over yonder. Back = back yonder. Help = hep me out here. Stop = ternit off. Start = crank it up. Settings =sittins. Programs = stuff that does stuff. Documents = stuff I done done. Also note that Winders 98 does not recognize capital letters or punctuation marks. We regret any inconvenience it may have caused if you received a copy of the Texas Edition. You may return it to Microsoft for a replacement version.
