Has anybody had problems been experiencing lock ups with the new FMs. 25% of the time I am getting lock-up at the load-up screen. I can usually cntl-alt-delete and close SDOE down but sometime have to re-boot. I'm running in Glide and thought it may have been one of my old V2s (SLI) dying. However, I gave the cards a good work out in Unreal Tourney and they worked flawlessly.I suspect it might be the new sm files because I reverted back to PP5.2 last night and was on-line for 3.5 hours without a problem. Anybody else seeing similar things? IP: Logged |

I am using the beta 5.3's in a second install, using Glide also, and haven't experienced this. ( Monster 3DII, no SLI )Sorry. But maybe it'll be helpful to know. ------------------ nealg=FC= IP: Logged |

First thing is there isn't enough info to give a good answer. There are several other facts needed. 1. Which patch are you using with the FM's 2. Which rendering method is picked- OpenGL or D3D. 3. Do you have the lates OpenGL drivers for your Voodoo board? These are usually included with a full driver update. (Glide is NOT true openGL so even if the GLide drivers are the latest, it may not work)To let you know, I experienced a bug I was able to repeat several times under the latest 1.5 beta. Everytime I chose D3D rendering the program crashed and sent me back to the desktop IP: Logged |

I occasionally see lock up at the load screen under the current 5.2 I think this is a known bug that was fixed in one of the beta versions of SDOE. I see it happen more often if I have a bunch of programs running in the background. You also have to be careful about the startup.ppf and preload.ppf files if you have the new 109 loaded. You need these files that came with the new 109, but if you remove it you will also need to remove these files. If you have an older version of the .ppf files from a previous addon it will cause problems too. Which beta planes do you have installed when you see this? I isolated the problem down to a combination of a some corrupted V2 drivers (reinstalled) and a bug in the Bf109E-4 beta - sorted out thanks to MPosis IP: Logged |

G'day Yard,Have you checked out the new DX7, V2 drivers from 3Dfx.......Even though they are only beta's the colour is richer and shadow detail has improved. So far so good. Catch-ya Red IP: Logged |

Red mate,No I haven't tried the V2 DX7 beta yet. I spotted them over on VoodooExtreme over the weekend but have had some bad experiences with the TNT divers, so am pursuing the policy of don't try and fix what ain't broke. I will wait for the full release and give them a try though. I'm interested to see what the announcement from 3dfx will be today on the future of Glide. 2 options I would have thought - make it an open API or can it. I hope it's the former. IP: Logged |
