.

First one is a Hellcat, Second is a F4U.

just thought i'd post them. it's the first time i've ever done 3D modeling.

i'm never going to finish these. if anyone wants these planes to play with, they are in AC3D format, and i'll be glad to send them to you.

Great work Razer. Did you use SV's doc to do this? Go, man, go!

well sort of. I used it for the body, but i used the AC3D Online Manual for the rest.

its pretty easy once you know how. if i had time. i bet i could crank out a good working model in about a week, then you would just have to make it fly-able.

Then do the flight model(Damage to if you want)

Like Michael said many months ago. "It takes about 2 weeks to creat a new model"

So he's about right. As soon as i get the next planepack out, i will start on a completely new plane.

I'm still trying to figure what to do. maybe me and Razor will team up.

Don't forget about all of the low-detail LODS... do you know any tricks to convert the detailed LODS into LODS with less polygons? I just did my SE5a low detailed LODS by hand, one at a time. It looks like it will take me about 6 hours to build all of the low detailed LODS from the completed SE5a. And with the SE5a I need to convert all of these LODS to the "damaged" version as well...

Also, have you thought about building the cockpit? I have a very simple cockpit in my SE5a - just the one from the fokker altered to fit the SE5a fuse. I imagine that creating a realistic cockpit for a plane would take about as long as making the entire outside of the plane...

AS far as making it flyable, that is not so hard if you start with an all ready working plane and just substitute your models for that plane's LODS. It will fly right away, then the FM can be updated in stages. Creating the collision points can take a bit of time, as well as getting the ground handling to work - I'm not sure how to do the ground handling yet. The DM will be identical to the plane you start with, you can alter it from there.

Here is what I think might be the hardest part starting with the model you made: Let's ay you need to cut the fuse in half at the back becasue the fuse is two LODS for DM purposes. Is there as easy way to split your fuse in two? This is an area I am having problems with...

Cutting up the whole plane is nothing. it's probably one of the more easy things to do.

most of the low detail planes are like stick planes.

i guess these planes i've made could work as low detail plane.s they are only 368poly's, but i think thats to much to low detail planes.

after the plane pack is released, i will start on a new plane. i'm working out which plane now so i can get some data one it.

one more thing

hehe

Razer when u post pic try to resample(resize) them a bit smaller i find 600x450 (based on a 800x600 screen capture) works perfect and will cut down on the loading time for us on 56k
