I hope we haven't made one move too many with the forums. I just got my house looking the way I wanted and boom we had to pack up and leave.

I see the registered members is 68. Is that progressing at the same pace as when the FS forum opened or is it slower?

You PR/Ad guys: how do we get more exposure around cyberworld?

i was thinking about advitising all that is
SDOE

heres what i think
once MH has the whole opensorce thing worked out and people can do it
we put together kind a web brocher kinda a web page that tells all the features about SDOE and how the whole openplane thing works

and the opensorce thing

with all kinds of pics and feature list kinda like the back of a game box
it can be hosted on this site
and then
we start pimping the crap out of it
we go on the other message boards

ask combat.com and dogfighter.com to post it in there news. i'm sure theres more all the flight sim pages

put post it in the newsboards or what ever u call them and such

sound good?

just go hog wild

I think thats what is called in writing as stream of conciousnous writing its where you are trying to get alot out on the paper not really think bout spelink o punchation or nothing its just rambling trying to get your point actross not really thinking that some one has to read it I think thats why there is a need for those things they call editors.

Mad Dog,
You could use an editor yourself
An American editor, I might add. =)

By the way, the correct spelling is "definitely."

Well almost all the SDOE still link to Pete's non-existant forum for starters.... I'm not one to talk, my site still points to the forum we had last week.

As far as I can tell this is a good time for the move - there have been many posts so quick!

Alright, I will create a post called Web edicate, grammer and spelling is it worth it.

Back to the original intention of this post.

Why can't we set up the profile to say 'use my signature block' as the default?

... Spanky

In MH's defense ... I agree.

I do tend to skip over post that are formated in the following structure:

hi how r u? im fine hav u been 2 the new forum? i think it kewl

I'm sorry ... There really is no excuse for half-ass posts like that. Being someone who has horrible writting skills, I empathize with those who might feel unconfortable ... However, if you want your posts to be taken for face value ... a few seconds effort will go a long way.

oh well i just won't post then
i'll just lurk
just don't expect any input

u (hehe) could just ask for some clarifacation if u don't understand what i said in a post. i have no problem with that

and no i won't open a word editor and cut and paste that word into it just to get the correct spelling

like i said this isn't a book or a letter this is just a web post about a GAME!!!

i've said lots of stuff and i guess thats why i don't get any answers right?
not my loss

Please, excuse me about wrong structure and words.

Besides destroying english language I love playing SDOE and modeling WWI aircrafts.
I needed to say this.

I will improve.

Damn! Can't you all just get along!
Obviously Spanky, your posts will not get ignored regardless of your improper punctuation, and/or spelling mistakes. However I do agree they may be taken less seriously especially if they cannot be deciphered. IF you deem it important enough to say, it would be wise to make sure it can be understood. Of course everyone makes mistakes, and this is not a "grammar police" board, so cut ole Spanky some slack eh! I saw MH's remark as an off handhand remark, which most of any of us could have said ourselves. The post Spanky made needed deciphering.
Shake hands, make up, fly high and check your six. The only question that is a stupid question is the one that is never asked: The only idea thats stupid, is the one thats never brought up.

The Author of this, did not, will not run his posted messages through a spell checker, unless he insists on being taken seriously(which is seldom the case hehe).

i know my sentence structure sucks
thats why i seperate stuff
kinda like my capital at the beginning of a sentence and my period

i write stuff that i think
for some reason when ever i do that i don't put in capitols, commas, or periods

i don't really want to go over and reread and fill all that stuff in after i write it

if u want to judge my intelligence or my seriousness by my spelling then i guess thats your problem this is not a spelling contest

even though i am intelligent and knowledgable for some reason good spelling never really was my thing. I don't know why and u should hear me scream at people here when i try to spell somthing and i just can't get it

my freinds and GF are my spell checkers and i don't want to bug them with every little word

i will try to be clearer from now on

the way i see it my bad spelling isn't my fault

it's the fault of this crazy language with its silent letters, double letters (such as in that last word , why 2 t's???) and other shit

if stuff was spelled like it was said we would all be better off (whats with the 2 f's ? i know one would be "of" but what does the other one do? extend the first one?)

so wacky

BTW english is my first langauge
but it sure ain't (yeah that isn't even a word) because its a good langauge i think it's design is horrible and dated

u will notice i edited my last post
hehe

Ok back to the subject at hand!

I think there was nothing wrong with the last message board and i liked it better. On this board i have to hit refresh all the time to see the new posts and i never had to do that there.

Also i had my little Canadian maple leaf icon, my smurfette nose art picture, and my signiture with a picture link to my web page.

Inferno put up a web poll (there catching on) and you can vote there if you like.

I have to clarify something...

This board is growing as fast as the older one. Within the first week we had around 80 users registered. After the first month we had around 150 members. Not all users are visiting the ubb each day! The older forum will be up till I or Inferno decide to close it....and that's far away...at least it's a good forwarding place....

This board is nice and handy....not the same as we had....but it's ours! Here we will not have any problems with deleted (and not archived) older messages.

But this site will contain not only this forum. The plan is to have a central site holding all (or major) files (planes, patches, terrains, add-ons) and other good information. This way we will not loose any user created add-on when someone decide to leave this community (why should someone do that ).

Please give us time to make this place looking nice and handy....

oh i'm sure this one will grow just as big
i just don't like it as much

the all in one site will be nice but the forum doesn't have to be on the same server to be part of the site

what ever
where ever everyone ends up i guess thats where we will be

Nuum,

I must say, you do a great job posting! In fact I like to read your posts because it is interesting to see how you translate some ideas - especialy when you show your passion for WWI aviation - some of your phrases make great quotes. I wish I could learn another language...

I am glad this board is growing! Good to hear.

I guess my next question is can the two co-exist? Was it necessary to make this one look like the other one? In reading the News at the FSIC page for 19 Nov 99 this forum does make the other one obsolete. Was that the intent?

Do we need the following on this forum:

General - this could be at the FS forum
Flame wars - fsf
After action reports - fsf
The Bar - fsf
Help/FAQ - this could be changed to bug reports or something instead.

The FS forum could remove all the stuff about OP and the OP focus can be here.

I really like the FS forum and I don't want to see it die. These two forums should have different focus's that don't conflict. Right now I see no difference between the two.
Make this more technically orientated to the sim since this forum is run by the Company that wrote it.

Can you tell, I like to ask some really tough questions some times.

I think this forum was made to make take over for the other one.

I have heard lector say he is going to lock all the threads on the other one so it will just be a big info forum.

I think we have moved. And those of us that would rather use the old forum, are going to have to get used to it.

Kopper...

Why should we use two diffrent ubb's? I think it's not very comfortable to visit two ubb's to stay in contact with the community.

Second: each ubb has another way to handle. Once you know how to work with a ubb you will like it...and if we split up things here...more problems...what can I use UBB Code, html...here or there...etc?

Third: If you are online and want to point another to this forum would it not bee much easier to say: "hey visit us at fightersquadron.com" then copy and paste the whole url of the old board?

I like the idea to have a bar, off-topic and flame war area here. It shows to all that free speach is guaranteed here. NO censors only a little police to make sure the postings are at the right forum...

BUT...everyone is free to bring up a UBB on the net...the community will decide where she is located...
