Based on an excellent 3D Spitfire model by Mick 'Damm That Polygon' Bradford and Bradburger. With outstanding 512 x 512 and 1024 x 1024 'skins' by Cpt Farrel.

Like the original, this Seafire Mk XVII is a modified Spitfire XVI with the addition of folding wings, opening canopy, tail hook, etc. More importantly it has an effective carrier launch and landing system that makes operating from correctly scaled carriers like the Ark Royal practical and fun.

Features:

*Effective carrier launch and landing system
*Folding wings, 'stinger' tail hook, retractable tail wheel,
engine exhaust pipes and pitot tube
*Night lights which can be switched on /off via the aircraft load out
or a keystroke command
*Moving control stick and pilot's head moves insync with stick position
*Yellow 'brakes on' light on the instrument panel (left hand side of
the climb dial) This is activated when you press SHIFT + B and
de-activated when you retract your tail hook after a carrier landing
*Opening canopy and pilot's arm moves to open canopy (pilot has a Royal
Navy flying suit)
*Armament 2 x 20mm cannons and 2 x .50 cal machine guns
*Ordnance 250lb bombs and rockets (uses Britsh ordnance by WTG)
*Tri colour smoke pod for airshow displays
*Supports up to 1024 x 1024 aircraft 'skins'
*1.5.2.10 'patch' and Alt Explosion compatible
*AI pilots capable of doing carrier launches
*Choice of strobing or non strobing propeller

*If the right wing takes a number of 'hits' the right wheel goes flat
*Bullet holes appear on wings and fuselage when 'hits' are taken
*If the left wing sustains significant damage, the left gear will
not extend

The zip (1.23 Mb) includes fifteen training missions and a new carrier, HMS Illustrious, which has two animated deck crew. A launch officer who signals it is clear to take off by raising his hand and a batman on the fantail.

Down load will be released on 24 Dec 01

cheers mace:

P.S. I'm off to the 'bush' for the next week

Mace, may I please have your permission to add this new seaplane and carrier to the BP Naval Ops module? I can see this module will need regular updates with your work rate

Amaced again, always a pleasent sensation.
I've longed to see the griffon engined Spit
get an upgrade, we had the the Mk XIX in Sweden postwar for high altitude rec.
So it's a perfect christmas gift
And it seems with the Illustrious around,
and with the Blohm & Voss shifswerke hammering away, there will be some rough clashes with the Kriegsmarine in the future
Thank you
